Normal reviewers seemingly reject restaurants/important businesses in our community (not your standard McDonald’s / Starbucks) . Should I do the same? I sometimes approve these if they write a nice description and provide a link.
So then I try the appeals but have no success with businesses that are quite eligible due to it being a major hangout and unique to the community , I’ve tried customer reviews and certain news articles but it gets rejected through appeals anyway.
What can you actually show to the appeals team that it’s important? Thanks
It’s really hard to make statements that are generalizations to any category of possible nominations, because we’ll always find exceptions to any general guidance. POIs need to meet one of the three eligibility criteria, great place to explore a great place to exercise or a great place to socialize with others, And not meet any of the exclusion criteria, such as being on school grounds for under 18-year-olds.
That said it’s probably easier for you to give some examples for people react to. Do you have any sample nominations that you’d like some discussion about?
I think most submitting non-generic, local businesses don’t put much into their submissions, which is why they frequently get rejected. All of the local businesses I have submitted I’ve done some research about them online before doing so. I then use this information to craft a good description, and, if they have a website or social media, provide links in the supporting info. It really depends on how the business is sold to us reviewers, and many are sold to us poorly.
Here’s some of mine that I’ve gotten approved by the community that I researched online first.
