Scenic viewpoint

Iconic London buildings from Richmond Park

This is what you can see but to get the anchor point of the bench in they become less distinguishable.

St Paul’s, spinny wheel thing, pointy building etc etc

Yay or nay?

This doesn’t so much seem a dedicated viewpoint as just a standard bench from which you happen to be able to see the city. Seems too slippery a slope for my tastes.

It’s pretty well known and I see people around there all the time who have come for the view.

Obviously I have to anchor it to something.

There’s no mention of it having to be a dedicated viewpoint @GeneralSecura

I dunno, I guess I just don’t find this “scenic” enough. It feels less like the bench was specifically put there to admire the scenery from (like the ones in the criteria clarification you listed) and more like it’s just a random bench next to a hiking trail that you can coincidentally barely see the tips of the London skyline from over the trees.

And surely this isn’t the only bench in the entire park that you can see the skyline from.

If you want to submit it, be my guest. I’m just thinking it’ll be a very hard sell.

It is. It’s the highest point in the park with the bench facing toward the view.

It’s not really a hiking trail either to be honest

Interesting. Seems to me it would’ve been a better choice to put a small observation tower there rather than just a bench. Would make getting a wayspot approved a helluva lot easier too.

I guess for me I know the area, I see people there all the time sitting on the bench and surrounding hill for the view.

I think if you walked around Richmond Park and experienced it then saw that view you would probably think this could easily be a Wayspot.

That’s with my knowledge of it though so it’s interesting to see a take on it without that knowledge.

Hi @26thDoctor
I do think that you have here a POI.
I find the photo difficult for this, because the distance between the anchor bench and the buildings is too large.
Have you tried it in different lights or “emotions”? I mean something like clear blue sky for more contrast, morning red, fog …

I could get a sunset/sunrise to detract reviewers.

Maybe wait for some deer to walk by?

Please try this :heart_eyes::hugs:

Sunset/sunrise, yes
Deer = just asking for a live animal rejection
Deer silhoutted at sunrise would be cool though

Summers over so…

I think that you need to demonstrate to any reviewer that your nomination meets at least one of the qualifying criteria. Try nominating it as a “Scenic Lookout” with a photo that captures more of the “unique” scenic viewpoint (including the bench). Use a description like “Reduce your stress by enjoying the solitude of this scenic lookout with your family and friends. Be sure to take in the sights, smells, and feelings around you as you spend time enjoying the view”. Your supplemental information should emphasise the being social with others aspect of your nomination as well as the potential to both further explore and exercise in the surrounding area. Good luck.

Thanks
