Scopely and future of Wayfarer

Yeah thats what I thought too

I need a shrugging reaction, to say: Good point… I don’t know.

I think there’s a lot of unknown isnt there!

Now, do I respond to this with a GIF on Unown from Pokémon or Unknown from Tekken Tag Tournament?

I have no idea what the 2nd is

In this case, any excuse for a pillow fight…

Niantic Spacial is just the 3D part. Here’s the definition from the link at the top of this thread:

Niantic Spatial Platform

Last year, we introduced the Niantic Spatial Platform – a milestone in our geospatial AI efforts. This comprehensive suite integrates spatial computing, Extended Reality, Geographic Information Systems, and Artificial Intelligence to create immersive experiences that seamlessly blend the digital and physical worlds with centimeter-level precision. Designed for diverse industry applications, it enhances manufacturing, warehousing, logistics, construction, tourism, entertainment, and education by enabling precise tracking, AR-guided navigation, and real-time 3D spatial visualization.

Our Visual Positioning System (VPS) and computer vision stack already power gaming experiences for millions in Pokémon GO, Ingress, and Peridot. Scaniverse, which uses breakthrough Gaussian splatting technology for more vibrant, accurate, and faster-rendering 3D models, serves hundreds of thousands of users monthly. Through real-world deployment, Niantic Spatial Platform has evolved from a consumer technology into an enterprise-grade solution, delivering high-fidelity scans, precise positioning, and AR visualizations with centimeter-level accuracy. To learn more, contact a Niantic Spatial Platform expert.

Niantic Spatial is developing a Large Geospatial Model – a world model powered by large-scale machine learning that enables people and machines to understand and navigate the physical world. This model enhances spatial reasoning in Large Language Models (LLMs) by providing a spatially grounded and semantically rich understanding of real-world locations. Built on a proprietary database of over 30 billion posed images, it delivers an unparalleled foundation for geospatial AI, enabling a deeper contextual understanding of the real world.

Niantic Spatial will continue to own and operate our other real-world AR games, Ingress Prime and Peridot, as best-in-class applications of the geospatial platform.

My next question is: When will this occur?

Secret reason for this question: Scopely is known to raise prices, so it might be good to buy in-game stuff before the transition. If you’re gonna buy anything. It’d be awful to just wake up one day and slap your head because you should have bought that critical thing yesterday.

I have never linked any of my Scaniverse scans to wayspots. Scaniverse exists quite well apart from the wayspot database.

I thought Spatial also included Lightship. I have clicked through so many links on this now trying to work it out but it seems to be part of it, and that the 3d stuff is also part of it.

Too complicated for me when Im also trying to finsih up some stuff at work

My guess is there will still be some deal in place to share the gameboards, because it would be daft to have 2 seperate gameboards but use 99% of the same pois, (i say 99% because i doubt much will be added unless this new compamy decise to mahoosively lessen the strictness). Might find the syncs are gonna be different, like it might be they go into one game, then use that game to populate the other, like how it was originally with ingress syncing and pogo using that gameboard.

Or maybe this new co.pany decide to do away with the cell system and just let anythjng in … i wouldnt complain about that, the amount of cells im like 4 or 5 stops away from a gym but have loads of ingress only pois lmao

Wouldnt mind that as long as theres some proximity stuff to prevent stops from overlapping - Niantic already override that during events like Go Fest where it makes an unmanageable mess of overlap where you cant click on the item you want to!

Maybe we’ll return to Ingress likes determining the Wayfarer cover/primary picture!

Currently if a Wayspot is not in PokemonGo, and it has an awful picture… too bad so sad! Ingress agents can change it in Ingress only. It’ll forever have that terrible picture in Wayfarer and other things.

Its always surprised me that go never implements a system similar to ingress, where wee bubbles pop up when theres more than 1 item in the area youve touched so you cam select what you want.

Disambiguation

The PoGO gameboard is, which is what I said.

The Pogo Gameboard isn’t driven by Wayfarer. It pulls the POI’s from a central Database. Wayfarer is just an interface into the same Database.

Pokéstops and gyms come from Wayfarer, how much more driven do you want?

I can relate. Take some space to feel and cope and be. :people_hugging:

I feel disappointed and nervous about these upcoming changes and how they will affect gameplay and wayfaring which have been a source of comfort and enjoyment for me the past five years. And I hope we can still maintain our supportive community.
