Hi,
In my area there is a S14 cell with a gym and there was recently new added pokestops making it 6 pokestops or gyms, so it should trigger a second gym. However, there is still just 1 gym and 5 pokestops. I think this seems to be a bug..
The first time I realized this was on Tuesday April 14th and as of Thursday April 16th this is still the case. This is the case for every player who are not able to see a second gym.
This is the S14 I am talking about: 56.086965, 12.399467
I would love to know why this is happening and if there is a fix for it! Thank you

The official wayfarer map is more reliable than pogomaps. It says the same thing here though. Niantic Wayfarer
Wait a little longer - it’s only been a couple of days. When the most recent pokestop added?
The most recent pokestop was added on April 8th. The others were accepted on April 4th.
Your second gym is “Toner - Rudolph Tegner” at 56.086791,12.401385 but it is set to inactive so it does not appear in Pokemon Go. That is why a second gym did not spawn. According to the system, you already have two gyms, even though only one is in Pokemon Go.
Fixing this would require Niantic staff to intervene.
Hmm very weird. I did realize that it was removed from the game recently and I don’t know why? “Toner - Rudolph Tegner” has been in the game ever since release and on the correct location (I assume someone moved it?).
Because this was approved prior to the Ingress/PGO split, I checked the coordinates in Ingress. It has been moved in one game (presumably PGO) since the split last year.
Ingress shows the coordinates at 56.086796, 12.401437. This is about 3 metres away from the current location, and across a Level 14 cell boundary.
My guess for the sequence of events:
- Toner was a gym in the other cell.
- Toner was moved and this changed the L14 cell. Because the new cell now had two gyms but less than six POI, Toner was set to inactive. (This prevents gym stacking/manipulation/abuse). But it retained the “Gym” status internally.
- New POI was added, which means this cell now have six POIs, but because Toner is still technically a gym, it is at capacity.
- From what I have seen, the system will never automatically turn an inactive entity to active, even if the conditions that made it inactive no longer apply. And the inclusion spawn rules seem to count inactive gyms for L14 gym spawn rules, and count inactive Pokestops for L17 cell capacity rules. Manual Niantic staff intervention is required if there is an issue.
The above is based on my personal observations and hypothesising.
Hey @PandaaHRV ,
We’re constantly making improvements to Pokémon GO and occasionally, you may notice changes to the PokéStops or Gyms in your community.
Best,
Hi. Thank you for your reply.
Shouldn’t there be a gym though?.. It seems to be an error.
Creation of Gyms is random. Also, we do not vouch for the authenticity of any information found on third party platforms.
I would personally try adding another stop, maybe that will kick start something.
