Since when do accepted waypoints in their own cell become power spots in Pokemon GO?

I don’t want to go too deep into game specific discussion, and you’re entitled to this take and I fully respect your choice, but-
Everyone plays the game differently. I personally have an extreme distaste in the Powerspot sync, but it is fun for me to see some of my Wayspots show up (I primarily play PoGO but I’ve knowingly created Portal-only locations and I do play Ingress). Extra Powerspots really help me make sure I can maximize MP collection. Even if nobody in your community voices it, I’m sure there are some that don’t mind new Powerspots.

I agree, I don’t want to “take away” power spots for the people who like them. My area is littered with them. Im not exactly against them, just needs a lot of refining, however I really don’t want to submit for a stop in an open cell and it becomes a power spot, I would know what to expect in a free cell, if there was already a stop in that cell, then hey, power spot is fine, this particular situation got me. But yea, I play ingress too and gained a portal.

Another twist, I nominated a pizzeria. The power spot is for a Chinese restaurant, a raid boss popped into it today and it closes/ends in 2 days. I did see the waypoint for lightship marker for this restaurant very close to where I nominated the pizzeria. Is this a way to block the pizzeria from getting in? The space was reserved for the power spot? 5:11pm EST will be 48 hours today.

oh that is a different situation if the powerspot is not for the wayspot you had accepted. please check again around 2:45-3pm and let us know if the pokemon go location syncs in then.

That power spot really threw me off. Pogo really ran it down to the wire though. It wasn’t there this morning but it is now

As you can see how close the power spot is…

Thank you for everyone who responded and tried to help out, very much appreciated!!! :relieved::pray:

Great to hear!

There have been some saying there haven’t been syncs in PoGo on Mondays during the last month and a half, so maybe it has something to do with the new Max Monday events. There’s been no confirmation that this is the case from Niantic, just users noticing new Wayspots and edits not syncing on Mondays in PoGo.

Thank you! And yes, I believe you’re probably right. Looks like they’re delaying the sync up. Glad to see it got in, this was my first time messaging on wayfarer, I’m blown away by everyone that responded and tried to help. A great community of friendly helpful people!

Just throwing out more timing trivia!

The Ingress sync is generally roughly a few (3-4?) hours after the PoGo sync. Ingress synchronizes on Mondays.

By my observations, your acceptance email needs to have timestamp around 8 hours (or more) before your game’s usual sync time, to be picked up for that sync.

A few minutes (or hours) after the Ingress sync, the changes roll out to IITC.

So, depending on timing, a wayspot that eligible in both games - could be a PokeStop but not on IITC yet. Or it could be on IITC but not a PokeStop yet.

This isnt accurate. IITC reflects at the same time Ingress scanner does.

Actually this isnt accurate either. Ingress sync has been sporadic the last 2 years accross roughly a 12 hr span.

“A few minutes (or hours)” means it should be really quick, but it’s another layer of software that can have problems. I remember IITC being down. You are inaccurate to say IITC never has problems.

Sorry that “generally roughly a few” was too specific for you. I find 3-4 hours to be the usual difference.

So quick its instant . I never said its never been down, but its a bit silly to account for a once every few years bug in your calculations.

Generally means most of the time, which isnt accurate, most of the time its very sporadic. It can be 3-4 hrs maybe 2 days out of the week, or sometimes even 0 days out of the week. Its so bad WDD gave up pinning it down, thought sporadic reports of sporadic syncs still happen to confirm its not constant still.
