I was reviewing in Wayfarer and I found a cluster of fake POIs.
They can be found in Rio Pardo de Minas, Brazil;
in these coordinates: -15.619785014369933, -42.65222966870702
There is no google street view coverage, but by satellite image you can see that things aren’t right.
By uploading the portal images in google lens search you can find where some of them are actually form, here are some examples:
The portals “homem pensante” and “estatua mulher lavando o cabelo” are actually sculptures located in a famous park in Brusque, SC - Brazil:
“Quadra de futsal” is a futsal court portal, but as seen in the satellite images, a big structure as a sports court isn’t in there.
The other portals must follow the same issues, but I couldn’t spot the exact photos of the other ones online, but they don’t seem to be located on that spot. The photo for the “academia ao ar livre” portal shows a background that isn’t actually in the location.
The Wayspot Appeals forum isn’t for abuse reports; it’s for valid removal request that have been denied and more info may be needed or to ask for restoration of a removed Wayspot that is still valid.
If you’d like to report abuse, you can do so either via the help chat bubble on the Wayfarer website, or at the below link. Both options go directly to staff, and you are kept anonymous as well.
While the abuse link is the preferred method of informing the wayfarer team of abuse, and should be used in the future, posting here is not absolutely wrong, especially if your not familiar with all the resources available.
Maybe @NianticAaron or someone can take a look at this at help you out.
The team only handles rejected appeals in the forum. Using the abuse form is the correct way to go. Theres been examples like this of the team directing to those forms.
I searched and looked for examples of similar and the instances I found had responses from a Niantic member addressing the issue and directing them to the abuse form for future use.
I didn’t want erosalthoff to feel like they should have known better, which is the impression I got from their last post, and make sure they feel welcome to post in the future. (Aside from the abuse reports)
