Hi,
I just received a warning for this submission. The report stated “Policy Violated: Misplacement of wayspot submissions”. I guess i should have been more precise when placing the pin on the map but i can confirm it was in no way intentional. As i can’t see the exact coordinates of the submission, as far as i see it’s misplaced by some 20m which indeed feels outside of the margin of error, i won’t deny that.
BUT. When i look back at this submission, the reason given implies there is some sort of abuse or harassment in the photos or the description. I know “noms d’oiseaux” in french could mean “insults”, but this POI is just a sign indicating a birds refuge, hosted by the inhabitants, and LPO refers to “Ligue pour la Protection des Oiseaux” which is a somewhat famous NGO in France that that cares of birds. I know not everyone in France loves this NGO, especially people that loves to hunt for sport which are numerous in France, but i don’t believe my submission hurts anyone by its texts or photos and i can’t believe but wonder if this reason added to the misplacement did me any harm leading to this warning.
Here are the informations regarding this submission :
Title : Refuge LPO
Description : Jardin d’oiseaux. Ici on protège la nature.
Supplemental information : Panneau d’information sur la nature visible depuis la rue.
Location : Google Maps
It’s the brown gate at the end of the cul-de-sac.
Don’t be too stressed about the “abuse” rejection as it often doesn’t mean what it says. “Abuse” can be flagged for a nomination for any of the following reasons
* The photo is not yours (e.g., taken from streetview, found on another website)
* The text itself is abusive
* The nomination is controversial and likely to be offensive (e.g., a mural of terrorists)
* Another nomination was abusive and all of yours have been flagged as a consequence
* The wayspot location pin is misplaced
* The wayspot is deliberately misrepresented (e..g., on school property but pretending it isn’t)
* (there may be others)

Well, i guessed i drifted a bit, it seems the misplacement is at most 18 meters. Given what i’ve seen on wayfarer i never imagined getting a warning for such a small error…
You’ve had a DM so that should help explain. At a guess, if enough reviewers flag the location as false (which is likely when the error is as much as that), then the “location abuse” rejection reason comes up automatically and this how it is phrased. The warning might immediately follow from that , or it might take Niantic staff to quickly review before sending out the warning.
That there appears to be no existing wayspot nearby doesn’t always change how reviewers decide to reject for incorrect location.
Thanks,
As i explained, the location is indeed incorrect. I acknowledged it and Niantic staff was understanding.
My initial fear was mostly due to my understanding that someone may have flagged my submission as abusive based on context, which is clearly not the case and it was flagged only due to the misplacement.
