I got a warning for misplacement

I got a warning for misplacement of a submission too, despite the fact i was stood right next to it when i submitted the nomination and the location marked was right on top of where i was stood. At this point it just feels like nobody is actually bothering to look. They just seem to be handing out warnings and bans for fun.
I wont be submitting anything new from now on, because i dont want to lose access to my game due to incompetence on the end of whoever is ‘reviewing’ my nomination.
I hope they sort out the issue you are having, as it seems like genuine nominators are being targeted while loads of false nominations seem to be getting through, still.

The Wayspot in question was misplaced by over 50 meters. You should have the submitted coordinates in your confirmation email. You can verify that for yourself.

That’s not correct.

Having reviewed where the email said i placed it, you are indeed correct. However, that doesnt make any sense, as i would not have placed it in the middle of some trees across the road where there is no pedestrian access. Quite why you would think that was intentional and worth of a warning, as opposed to just rejecting it, seems overly harsh.
It was clearly an error rather than an attempt to make a pokestop where nobody can get to it.

It is not often possible for anyone to know if you have made an accidental error instead of an intentional misplacement. If the area is unpopulated (no existing wayspots), it’s more likely to be accidental; if it has other wayspots, it’s more likely to be intentional.

50 meters is a very large location error.

You clearly did place the wayspot in the middle of some trees across the road where there is no pedestrian access. Maybe you had GPS drift and didn’t check what you were doing. Your comments above are inflammatory, clearly wrong, and @NianticAaron handled them well.

There clearly was GPS drift, and i admitted i placed the spot in the trees. There is no denial of that. Only the questioning as to why an obvious error would be flagged for a warning. The area has very few pokestops, none in the area i submitted in.
My comments were not meant to be inflammatory, just a venting if frustration on how over the top the punishment seemed to be.
I have no history of misplacing wayspots, nor do i have any intention to do so. I was visiting the area and realised i could help out players who are local.
It just makes me want to stop even trying to improve the game for people, when i get threatened with a ban for an honest mistake.

“nobody is actually bothering to look”, “They just seem to be handing out warnings and bans for fun”, “incompetence on the end of whoever is ‘reviewing’ my nomination.”, “genuine nominators are being targeted”

If you want to vent frustration, don’t just type it down and hit send. Type it down, walk away (or do something else) and then come back to it later. You’ll often find you want to edit before sending or not send it at all.

(You did initially deny misplacing it, but have now acknowledged this, which is helpful.)

I denied it because i thought that to be the case, until i reviewed the co-ordinates.
I will of course always admit to any mistakes and wrongdoing. Accidental or not.
All i want to do is be a helpful member of the community.
I feel my frustration is entirely valid, and that the warning was indeed way to harsh, considering the curcumstances and the level of abuse by other players that goes ignored.
I may have overreacted in how i put across my point, and if that is deemed offensive to anyone then i apologise.
What i stand by, however, is the way the accidental misplacement was handled.
None of this changes the fact that i no longer feel comfortable in nominating wayspots. That part of the game is now dead as far as i am concerned, as i dont want to risk getting a ban for GPS drift in the future. And, that has been caused by somebody reviewing my nomination and responding to it in an overzealous manner.
I appreciate the time you have taken to put things in perspective for me, though. Please understand that my frustration, whilst communicated poorly, comes from a genuine place and that consequently, i now mistrust the judgment of staff at wayfarer.
Hopefully I am a rare case, and others can safely nominate spots and improve the game.

Depending on the level of the warning and how long ago it was, there may be no problem with continuing to submit wayspots - maybe you will feel better about it in time. GPS drift does happen but is very easy to accommodate if you are aware of the possibility - always check the location of the pin before continuing.

I suffered from GPS drift in one area a few years ago, but it mostly affected the photospheres I was uploading without checking the location first, so my wayspots were rejected because they were nowhere near the photospheres. The location errors were around 50m and it was an unpopulated area. (I went back, submitted more photospheres and wayspots, checking the locations very carefully, and now have a nature reserve with gyms and pokestops and absolutely no signal)

Hello and welcome @almightygeep

First I am going to split this into its own topic as we like to keep queries about enforcement ladder issues separate.

I understand the frustration you are feeling about this warning ( I am correct that it was a warning not suspension?)
The people you have directed the negative remarks about are the Wayfarer Team and they are the only ones who can help in these cases. As you will see the topic you added to originally they did manage to assist. It might have been helpful to absorb more about the teams actions before venting your frustrations. Perhaps you will take time to reflect on how you approached this.

It is good that you have now had the details to help you understand what happened to your nomination. The team can only go on the facts in front of them.
You have had a warning and the purpose of that is to help you learn that you had done something incorrectly, and to take action to avoid anything that would generate a suspension.
If what works for you is taking a step back and stopping then that is fine. It is your choice as to how you progress.

You can double check your submision location and re pin it into correct position before you submit so blaming gps drift is not excuse. Anyway you got 1 year redemption period where your mistake will be gone so the system does allowed wayfarer to learn from mistake.

There is no way for staff to know if missplacement is intentional or no. So its submitter responsibility to ensure their submission is correct

I recently put something on the wrong building as I was submitting as I was walking back on my lunch break and got the wrong bit of the sea of big roofs… oops!! That would have been 50m or more but it was simply rejected (quite quickly by the ML). Realised later what was wrong and now its been submitted correctly onto the right roof

Completely unintentional when it happened to me, so I can see how it could happen to someone else too. Hopefully it was just a warning, and as long as you dont make the same mistake again you’ll be fine :yellow_heart: people here will help too if you want advice at any point.

One tip I have for if youre unsure on location and youre standing right there is to swap maps ie check the road map version as well as satellite, sometimes one or the other is easier to get your bearings! Also restarting the game stood at the location sometimes is a good double check of the GPS! Another awesome tip is don’t submit while walking back fast hungry on your lunch break🤣

I’ve made it a habit to use “upload later”,

upload my nominations after I get home,

put them on hold and check the coordinates from the email.

It seems that on occasion my location locks to my car even after I have walked away plus signals in areas with heavy foliage can distort the location. This is not a PGo or Wayfarer issue but a problem with GPS signals and the way the phones use them.

I rarely use upload later unless there are signal issues because I’ve had some nominations eaten with that function and they never got uploaded, so I only trust it if I have to

This was just a mistake as I was in a hurry, and with the rest of the day in the office I didnt log in to check it before ML picked it up. “Luckily” its the kind of nomination that has to be appealed to get accepted so it was never going live on the wrong place in the long run
