Possibly not interpreting the way I mean.
I can’t talk about the other games, but from Pokemon Go’s perspective, there are two types of location and it doesn’t matter at all whether they were imported or created from wayspots:
- Pokestops/Gyms
- Powerspots
From the perspective of wayfarers, there are two types of location:
- Wayspots
- Other things (which don’t affect wayfarers because they don’t block submissions)
These two ways of categorising the objects in the system do not match well. What actually exists are:
- Pokestops/gyms created from wayspots submitted by wayfarers
- Pokestops/gyms created from imports which are now wayspots (e.g., Foursquare in Turkey)
- Pokestops/gyms created from imports which are not wayspots (e.g., street corners)
- Powerspots created from wayspots submitted by wayfarers
- Powerspots created from imports which are not wayspots
It is perfectly possible to give images to the non-wayspot objects which don’t impact Pokemon Go, because the image doesn’t change how it functions in PoGo. It is also perfectly possible to prevent edits to the non-wayspot objects, because this is wayfaring, so the inability to edit some powerspots and some pokestops/gyms doesn’t affect gameplay at all.
It would be wonderful if the non-wayspot objects could have non-wayspot images to make it clear they are not wayspots, so that when new wayfarers come on board, they don’t think that the street corners, random shops and private homes that show up in their game and on their submission map mean that they can successfully submit street corners, random shops and private homes.
