I assume you mean for imports used exclusively for Powerspots.
I agree something more distinctive defining type of import would help - not sure if “Max”is the right brand representation for Wayfarer or if that’s how it should look on the Pokémon GO side, but it should be more clear to us reviewing.
I mentioned that idea again here since this is a suggestion post and I want to keep them together. The answer to me about the experimental street signs was
The only time we see the photos on the imported powerspots is in the nomination map screen. I would rather not have a photo on something that does not affect nominating.
Unless I am reading these incorrectly this seems to contradict the following quote…
“What will happen if I submit an Edit to one of these Wayspots?
Since we won’t be accepting any Edits to these Wayspots at this time, any submitted Edits will be auto-rejected starting next week. In the meantime, please skip or report these if they come across your review flow.”
Understood. I’m asking you to keep alignment with what may be in the realm of reality.
We asked for years for Wayfarer to put Wayfarer/Wayspot/etc branding into Pokémon GO and they’ve told us for years “Great idea!” by staff and program management but nothing has happened.
Wayfarer and Pokémon GO are distinctly separate projects and brands. Maybe barriers will be erased under Scopely, but there is a reason Pokémon GO still insists you’re submitting a PokéStop.
As a Wayfarer contributor, I don’t want to have to keep track of Powerspots, imports, etc. I don’t mind a few distinct review paths and am thankful I know the PoGO impact, but how things appear and interact in game shouldn’t be a part of reviewing purview and WHEN Wayfarer eventually opens into other games they shouldn’t have to know what that Max logo represents.
I don’t think imported powerspots should be getting mixed with wayspots and treated as if they are wayspots, as nearly all of them do not meet wayspot criteria. Personally, I don’t see the point in reporting them, adding photos to them or renaming them, since they are not wayspots. So from this perspective, giving them the Max logo works just fine.
Even from a different perspective, they could be given a Max logo within Pokemon Go and have photo additions blocked. This completely fixes the issue for Wayfarer
It is not your comments that I see a contradiction.
Tintino’s reply to you seems to be saying that they won’t be restricting edits but in the quote I included from Tintino I read as saying they are restricting edits.
I agree with @salixsorbus in regards to adding the Max Logo. In game it would be more meaningful than the generic image. In Wayfarer it would be more obvious that it is just a place holder.
IMO: I really don’t mind replacing the place holder with a real life image but by adding the Max Logo a 2nd image edit will be obvious that you are dealing with a Powerspot that probably does not meet criteria.
When these first had editing capabilities added, I assumed it was either 1) because Niantic wanted any additional data they could get from us or 2) it was simply easy to copy & paste that section of code from what was already available. I don’t think we particularly know what part of what came from PoGO or Wayfarer, but it does feel more like the former. I do try to clean up text when able but generally steer clear, personally.
If I’m interpreting the way you mean, it would certainly be nice if PoGO/Wayfarer (whoever controls that interface) could add some sort of “Max Eligible” or “Powerspot capable only” to the PoGO nomination screen, especially since there is currently nothing helpful there.
Imports in general should have some kind of place holder image, not just those used as Power Spots. If the same image can be applied to sponsored stops/gyms, this would seem to be something that could be done for imports.
