Supporting Photos

Oh wow :flushed:
Thank you all for responding, interesting thoughts and clarification.

Shut this thread, it canā€™t become better

But for sure, to know that a supporting photo allows more than the main photo, could be a game changer. Iā€™d appreciate to find that somewhere. Help page?
It effects the reviewers as much as nominators.

Absolutly!
I thought of minimal stuff like using everytime pink.
But now itā€™s clear. Without the third party thing (google maps screenshotā€¦)

I added the boxes, arrows, and text from a screenshot of the supporting photo of an already approved Wayspot, so itā€™s not the actual supporting photo (used Paint on my computer to do so). I typically will put in the supporting info text more about where a POI is located so reviewers can ā€œseeā€ the POI in where itā€™s at; Iā€™ve never actually added anything like this to an actual nomination.

I think most are just giving good examples of supporting photos, noting how they show the area with the POI in it. So many new Wayfarers show the surrounding area, but donā€™t include the POI, which is what makes a good supporting photo.

Thanks for making this clear and sharing your thoughts with me. I hope Jamal may forgive.
But on the one hand it wasnā€™t entirly clear and new Wayfinders are maybe confused and on the other hand we received today a piece of clarification, which can increase the quality of future nominations.
The outcome is more than expected :face_holding_back_tears:

I got that it was to show off good supporting photos, but I can see where others may be confused a bit.

Plus, Iā€™d wouldnā€™t post a supporting photo for anything I still havenā€™t gotten a decision on. The photo I provided was from a nomination I made back in January.

That used to be the case with Photospheres back when people used those as they were tied to a Google ID, and people still recommended their use.

True, but a Google ID is not as blatant as a Niantic ID. And it was the ā€œnameā€ you gave your Google ID.

You canā€™t see your Niantic ID itā€™s whatever name you want it published under, just like google.
But itā€™s something maybe for the team to think about as they continue to develop scaniverse.

On a serious note, we appreciate what youā€™re doing :slightly_smiling_face: More power to you :raised_hands:
