I’m not much of a photographer, so I have no idea what to do when trying to take a clear picture that has a reflective surface at its front and center. I don’t want my (faint) image to end up in portals, but I can’t abide taking a crappy crooked picture either. The best solution I came up with is to at least dress cool so I look good in it. Does anyone have any tips?
Depends on what you are nominating. A lot of times the “get low, aim high” strategy will work. Sometimes artistic angles. Other times, using the reflection eraser feature on your phone will do the trick without ineligible “obvious doctoring” to the photo. I always take my photos first and look at them in my gallery so I can adjust if necessary before submitting the nomination with the best ones.
Examples of “get low, aim high” (and a crop)
Examples of an artistic angle (and a crop)
Please note there is a difference in an artistic angle like this and poorly oriented photo where you have to tilt your head to view the photo correctly. I am not sure how to explain that difference.
Example of finding the sweet spot where I could take the photo without including myself (and a crop)
Exapel of erased reflection (and a crop)
Hope this helps.
…there’s a reflection eraser feature?
Not in the Wayfarer process. My phone has one:
(I took that photo to remember to tell my husband about the place. This is not an example of a Wayspot nomination lol)
Yeah just found out my phone has one too. I feel really dumb but at least I learned something new. Thank you!
Please keep asking. That is how I learned. Everyone helping me along the way is the reason I try to pay it forward. The number of things that are not intuitive to me are astronomical. Like I did not know three stacked lines indicated a menu toggle until someone explained “hamburger menu” to me.
