I have a question. There is a fairly new mural that has been commissioned by the local Council that has been placed on the underside of the Bridge, but the problem is the path is narrow and the only way to get a full image is to take a swim, or buy a drone and fly it over the Canal in order to get a wider shot. How would you deal with this type of scenario?
No wide angle option? Otherwise maybe a Panorama photo maybe
I would take smaller sections one photo at a time and stitch them together with editing software if your phone has panorama mode it can be automated. Most do have this feature, you probably select it by however you change from picture to video under a more option or advanced and look for pano. Once you find, your phone tells you how to use it. I would stand in middle.
My phone isn’t great at taking wide angle shots in this scenario. If I had a DSLR camera (which I don’t have any more), I would enjoy doing Panoramic shots. Not something I am comfortable doing on my phone.
Also… the biggest problem you have there is the glare… if none of the options work for you… coming at the different time of day so the glare isnt this bad might work well enough.
I might see what I can do next week.
You can also walk past it recording video, then put it on a Site to convert video to image
The biggest barrier I have is the width of the footpath. It’s enough to get 2 people walking next to each other. Then there’s the canal.
I would feature just a part that I like or the part that is located where I want to place the pin. I submitted a very large mural last year. Most people probably would have featured the central image of a deer standing against a setting sun - very dramatic. But off to the side of the mural, there was an image of a fish made out of bent twigs. Seaprincess naturally liked the fish more than the deer, so that’s what I submitted.
I was tempted just to focus on the Butterfly and the Roe Deer, but wasn’t sure at the time whether I should have tried to show the whole murial. Not something I’ve submitted before… but might give that a go.
I showed the whole mural in the supporting photo. But for the photo disc, you gotta show what fits and looks nice.
I dealt with this with a mural next to my home by choosing a chunk of it.
This is the almost whole mural:
And this is the part that I chose to upload:
It was accepted.
Mine got approved. Will try and go and resubmit a better photo when I can.
Good result
I was surprised it got through. Didn’t think the photo was good enough.
I think most photos are “good enough”, they dont have to be a masterpiece to meet critieria. But its also really fun to add amazing pictures where possible.
Well done on getting it approved, it looks like a fantastic piece of artwork
