The AI falsely marked this as a duplicate

    As you can clearly see in this picture, these are two different markers for the same trail. The arrow is clearly pointing in a different direction. The left photo is the photo of the submission this appeal is about, and the right photo is of the marker that precedes this one when one is following the trail. The AI falsely marked this trail marker as a duplicate. So I would like for this marker to be approved and the wrong photo to be removed from the other wayspot.

Was this a nomination that was marked as a duplicate? You can appeal the nomination the regular way with the Appeal button in your contributions page. You can ask help chat to remove the incorrect photo.

(I am confused because I didn’t think “our team” duplicates’ photos got added to the other wayspot, just community decisions.)

Long time since I created a duplicate myself, but I know one of my nominations in 2019 (yes, it’s a long time ago and lot have changed) actually was decided to be a duplicate and ended up as a photo to the other wayspot.

So, I could see that makes sense what @GeneralSecura has posted - AI or community votes > duplicates still adds the photo to the other wayspot.

Oh, yes. The photos absolutely do get added to the other wayspot if the community decides it is a duplicate. But I didn’t think the photo was added if “our team” decided it was a duplicate. The only instance I have of this to check personally is from when they sent ai rejected nominations back through as a free appeal, but I had already resubmitted with a different photo. That one was rejected as a duplicate but the photo was not added to the other wayspot. The only ai “duplicate” I have is for a lightship only wayspot I can’t check for photos to see if mine is there.

It’s absolutely an AI decision. I doubt regular reviewers make a decision in two hours.

I think this is getting off track about the ai. But you did answer my original question with those screenshots, this is a regular nomination. So my original advice still holds:

For what it’s worth, I can confirm that the pictures get added to Wayspot as well. I had something duplicated a little while back, and the photo got added to Wayspot; easy appeal got it in.

I never bothered to go back and remove the photo from the incorrect Wayspot though, I should probably do that
