The quality of submissions received for review has deteriorated sharply

The quality of reviews submitted since last night has deteriorated sharply. The rate of submissions approved for submission has dropped to less than half of what it was before. To give a few examples: stairs, utility poles, warehouses. Is Emily’s summer vacation starting in September? It’s not good that acceptable, legitimate submissions are being hindered by these.

This could be what’s known as a “honeypot,” where staff puts nominations into queue that do not meet criteria to see how reviewers handle them. Usually, it isn’t some user that is submitting these that doesn’t know the criteria, and they do also tend to be in the same general area.

If you’re noticing a pattern, you may want to use the Report button to report as abuse, and then this will be flagged for review by staff. If you don’t feel comfortable doing that, you can then reject for not being distinct under Permanent and Distinct, as none of these are distinct, even if they are permanent.

There have been many reports of ML possibly being down, i know i haven’t had any photos ML approved personally.

They are all distinct though.

Pretty criteria, they aren’t great places to be social/exercise/explore, and they are all common objects one may ser around their towns and cities. Because they are commonly seen, they are not distinct.

Permanent? Yes. Distinct? No, not based on the criteria and guidelines.

As Roli noted, this could be an issue with ML, so there really isn’t much of a need to discuss beyond that.

Per Niantic’s definitions they are ‘Permanent and Distinct’

Can you revisit those areas? Yes

Can you identify them within the immediate area? Yes

I will be muting you, as I don’t care to argue. You most likely will have others tell you the same thing when it comes to common objects like lamp posts and ordinary garage doors.

Ad populum

Emily might be on summer vacation after all. I’m not sure if she took it herself or if the team gave her time off, but she’ll be back soon enough. I’ll shift my focus and continue with the usual reviews.

You’ve done this before. You stand alone and ignore everyone else. You are wrong.

I’ve noticed the same thing. Dross coming through to review. Doesn’t look like honeypots (too many), but ML being down would be a rational explanation.

I’ve just had a swivel chair by a lake to review. Yesterday there was a horse box. I do feel that these should have been auto-rejected.

I’m literally looking at someone’s light on their ceiling as a submission…

I did have a few reviews today with very bad photos (low light and blurry, couldn’t even tell what was in the image), private farms (the farmhouse was right next to the other buildings), an already existing Wayspot nominated in a city nowhere close to where the actual Wayspot is, so maybe ML isn’t working quite right.

Would be nice if staff could confirm if there is an issue or not…

Have been getting alot submissions which were just a clear double of a wayspot or literally someone’s statue in a room of a house. Conformation would be nice indeed.

I just did some reviewing, and other than a neighborhood sign and memorial bench, I didn’t get anything out of the ordinary. Maybe these bad nominations are working themselves out of the system, or maybe they are getting removed by staff…Can’t say for sure, but it did seem better than earlier.

I wonder how this got past Emily. Seeing lots of these in a span of 2 days already.

This is how.

I just did a batch of reviews and am seeing as much coal as in the past couple of days :frowning:

We miss Emily
