When submitting a Wayspot Appeal, make sure to include as much of the following information as possible:
- Wayspot Title: Synagoge
- Location (lat/lon): https://maps.app.goo.gl/JASDJGfJGFr3Pdxv9?g_st=ac
- City: Tilburg
- Country: The Netherlands
- Screenshot of the Rejection Email (do not include your personal information):
- Additional Information (if any): Hello Niantic, why did the synagoge got removed? It’s a religious monument, and I don’t understand the removal out of the game. Stichting Synagoge Tilburg
Thanks for the appeal, @justmeister. We gave this a second look and decided to restore the Wayspot in question.
Thank you Niantic for this restore and please punish the submitter of the removal. There should be no room for this kind of anti-Semitism in your games.
It’s best not to make assumptions as for why it was removed. Some people request removals to help with their game play, especially in Ingress. Others may not know that religious buildings meet criteria. We can’t say that it was removed based off of one’s biases, as that’s not info that we’ll ever be provided with from Niantic.
Niantic will take a look at the removal, and if they do feel there was abuse involved from whoever requested the removal will take appropriate action. And the abuse might have nothing to do with a bias, as previously mentioned.

What baffles me is… how do you guys just directly remove this valid nomination without proofchecking? I’m just curious cause that seems like a massive flaw in your verification system. Right now it seems that abusers who just remove things cause they can, get away and actually get rewarded for doing so.
I’m a genuinely worried wayfarer as I’m also a victim of this directly.

Niantic will have had evidence presented to them that this should be removed. I am also confounded that this can happen when it is so difficult to get something removed when I report it. If you find that this is happening over and over, you can report abuse through help chat or through the reporting abuse form through the link at the top here. I recently learned that not everyone can see those links, so here is the link if you don’t see it: Reporting Abuse in Wayfarer — Wayfarer Help Center
So what evidence could they have received to remove a completely legit Synagoge? I know about the abuse reporting, but I feel it shouldn’t be my task, it should be fixed at the core where niantic factproves the evidence/report better.
I don’t want to speculate in public to give other bad actors any ideas, but I can think of a lot of ways they could have done this. I do not think that Niantic will reveal the contents of private discussions to us.
Hello Niantic. It’s been 5 days now and the portal didn’t appear on the map yet, when can I expect it to be back online?
I’m guessing it hasn’t reappeared in Ingress because it’s within 20 metres of “Verbondenheid”, and Portals need to be at least 20 metres apart. It was definitely restored to the database.
I realise it may have existed in game before this, but usually when wayspots are restored, they’re checked against the proximity rules used by Niantic’s games as if they were new wayspots.
