  • Additional Information (if any): This used to be a Pokémon Gym, but was removed. The location is accessible and a great place for exploration and exercising. It’s part of a popular local cycling route that goes through a forest and along fields where you may even spot wildlife such as deer or rare birds. I do not know why it was removed. There are dozens of trail marker Poké Stops and Gyms in the area and it even has its own category when nominating poi so presumably that means that it’s an acceptable type of poi. In fact, there is another trail marker Poké Stop nearby (for route 50) that has NOT been removed [EDIT: this one has now also been removed - see my 2nd post below]. Since this was a poi in the countryside it is particularly upsetting that it has been removed, because Poké Stops and Gyms are already scarce in rural areas. I hope you will consider my request.

A Poké Stop nearby has now also been removed. This was also a trail marker (but for a different cycling route). It’s actually the one I mentioned in the first post: cycling route 50. I think someone may be reporting these not knowing that trail markers are legitimate poi (there’s even a dedicated tag for trail markers). Should I submit a separate appeal for this other removed poi nearby?

I don’t have much experience with the nuances of trail markers so I can’t help with that part of the discussion.

I did want to let you know that there are a couple games that can nominate wayspots. But Ingress does not ask players to look through the categories for tags. The tags are just meta data for Niantic to help sell their mapping services. It includes things like schools.

So just noting that categories are not equivalent to eligibility.

Thanks for the appeal, @MachokeOnDeez. We have taken another look but stand by our decision to retire this Wayspot.
