日本の千葉県船橋市や大阪府大阪市、愛知県名古屋市などで市内で大量にあるマンホールが大量にスポットになっており、それがスポットになっていることを理由で一般的なマンホールを新しくスポットにする人がいて、増え続けているのですがどうですか。マンホールを承認とする審査員も増えているようで。また、ポケモンGOでジムが新しくできるまでポケストップがあと1つのところで、ネタがないことで一般的なマンホールで無理やりポケストップにさせる事例も多いとのこと。このように、このままにしていくと地域によって格差が生じ、余計に一般的なマンホールを申請する人が増えそうなのでどうにかしたいところ。
No-one is forced to use anything to create a gym. They choose to use unsuitable objects in order to squeeze extra POI into wayfarer and pokemon go, but that doesn’t make those objects suitable.
Junk should be reported.
It seems like every place has its thing that people submit that gets accepted that shouldn’t. I have been trying to get a clarification made for neighborhood estate signs because I see such an issue with them being accepted, I believe incorrectly. But staff has declined to comment and ambassadors have told me to use my best judgment or not participate in Wayfarer if that is not a good enough answer.
I think that manhole covers would have unsafe access most of the time, and could be rejected for that issue. I think you could report ones that you do see accepted that are in unsafe or misplaced locations. I use the “Reporting Abuse” form linked at the top here for that:
I do admire you for trying to shed light on a criteria issue here.
Previously, I found and reported a location in Funabashi City where a single image had been reused to register more than 20 Wayspots. I was astonished by the Wayfarer team’s response. They deleted all the images and left the Wayspots intact.

Seeing is believing.
This is the contradiction with the Wayfarer.
While a Wayfinder who violates the terms of service will be banned, wayspots will not be removed unless they meet the removal criteria.
As everyone knows, there is a Huge Grey Zone in Wayfarer.
Consequently, many low-quality wayspots have emerged.

i’m not entirely sure this explains what @CrownFeather saw. When a wayspot has been created using a fake image, the wayspot is fake (if it existed in real life, you wouldn’t need a fake image). Removing the fake image leaves behind a wayspot known to be fake and that has been reported as fake. That’s just nonsense.
(OK, you can’t be 100% sure that it’s fake, but 99% is enough.)
Of course, I am disappointed too.
I am not approving this Wayspot.
If anything, I am being ironic.
Wayfarer team has forgotten that they are a “storage center.”
If he had gone to the site and shown the Wayfarer team photos that clearly proved it was fake, they would have removed it.
But, he did not go to the on-site, and it seems that he discovered it in a review and reported it as fake based on circumstantial evidence.
In such cases, the Wayfarer team will not remove the wayspot unless they are 100% certain that it is fake.
Because the wayspot title is “Manhole.”
There are multiple manholes within 10m of this Wayspot.
