I’ve been trying to nominate some trail markers to become wayspots in Pokemon Go, and since they’re precisely mentioned in their criteria list i thought it’d be an easy case.
Yet i struggle a lot to get any accepted.
This is one of the applcations i sent in.
I think the first denial was from their AI since it happened after a day. So i appealed the application with a comment where i explained how these “Stikk UT!” signs are a part of an public organization that makes and marks public trails and trail markers.
Yet in the appeal message recieved from Niantic staff they state that this is not valid as a wayspot cause it’s just a “regular signboard”.
I’ve tried sending in similiar trail markers around here (all from the same organization) and they all get denied.
Is the trail markers too general? Yet trail markers can’t be too different from eachother when they mark the same trail.
Any ideas?
A more zoomed-in photo would definitely help. It’s never good if the object you’re submitting only takes up about 5% of your main photo.

I’ll be honest with you @beshlax if this came my way on the review system I think I would decline it or skip on the submission as like @GeneralSecura has mentioned the photo’s you have submitted here are to far away from the actual “trail post” and for me it’s also unreadable and at first glance I would mark it as a signboard as well.
Granted every country do things different but that does look more like a temporary signpost and also not permanent that a trail marker/post to me.
If you can get pretty close to it and submit a clear photo and description and even an accurate location every bit of evidence may boost your chance.
Don’t laugh but I’ve stood right next to a trail marker in the past week and nominated it and there was stinging nettles all around it stabbing me in the legs…the things I do for documenting the walking routes for people to have fun and stay on track
It’s worth reading up on the “wayfarer criteria” also & theres plenty of discussions here to get involved with to open your mindset.
