Violation email sent by mistake?

I was sent these two emails (English is not my first language so maybe I didn’t understand well) but here it says that the contribution I sent on 10/30/2024 at 1:16 PM violates some of their rules, but looking at my profile the last edit contribution but also in general is 10/27/2024. So I was wondering is it their mistake?? I have already submitted the application for the appeal (the one at the bottom of the email) but I wanted your opinion.

Hello, it’s been seen a couple times on this forum previously that some timestamps in these emails appear to be incorrect and rather correspond to when the message was sent. I agree that without a title you can’t do much to search for the offending contribution(s).

@NianticAaron could you maybe contact the person with the missing information?

Oh ok ok. Stupidly I immediately went to my profile and didn’t see yesterday’s emails and actually (even though an hour later than the time indicated by their email) they sent me an email rejecting a change of location. I checked and if we want to be precise, it actually violated their location policy by 4/5 meters. I take full responsibility. Thanks for clarifying. I think that’s it but if they sent me the confirmation via private message I would be grateful.

To eliminate this violation is there anything I can do?? Besides not violating anything anymore

With location edits its a complete minefield - very easy to get these warnings or a ban

I would say do not make any, unless the location is demonstrably false and requires a change that is very, very obvious on satellite

I have been making them via help chat where I can ask for niantic staff to do the edit for me and I can provide them with proof that the edit is necessary. I feel like doing the edits in game is too concerning with all the warnings and bans.

I think lots of people will be getting these emails over the next few days, due to the edit challenge

I would avoid location edits made purely for in-game advantage that move the object away from the wayspot, or any other types of edits that move the object away from the wayspot. I understand many groups do this but this is not allowed. If an incorrect warning is received, you will be able to demonstrate your edit was legitimate.

From the enforcement policy

So don’t do anything that might be considered to break the rules is the bottom line.

Hey,

We have identified an issue with the date in some of the email templates and our team is working on a fix.

Moreover, I have shared all relevant details through a DM.

That’s not accurate. We take action only if there is conclusive evidence of violation.

Thanks,

It is accurate from a player perspective, for someone who doesn’t frequent the forums

People commonly think that if they move the PoI but it remains on the object that this will not be abuse. Or that if they only move it a small way then it is not abuse.

I have already thanked them privately (I don’t know if they will read it) however I wanted to thank the staff for confirming my suspicion. As I said I take responsibility and will wait a year to have the warning removed.
