What is the process with nominations sent for Voting. ie,
How many people will be sent the nomination for voting?
What percentage is required for the vote to carry?
Just curious as I have recently had a nomination refused which is an Old Rectory, both description and extra info state that it ceased being the Rectory in the 1960s and is now business offices. Reason for refusal: Residential!!!
Wondering how many people it took not to read the notes and make that decision
It is unknown how many of the community see your nomination. And similarly how many positive or negative votes it takes to come to an agreement (accepted, rejected/duplicate).
It can be tricky, especially when first starting out, to explain how your wayspot nomination meets eligibility and doesn’t fall in to rejection territory.
We do have folks that can give great feedback on nominations in the Nominations section of the forum:
Hope this helps! And please feel free to ask more questions.
Maybe I am just being a bit moody, I have had a couple of others rejected recently so I don’t have the option to appeal this one which I beleive should be 100% accepted…
Previous…
1/ “The Community” refused for 1 reason, appealed and Niantic refused for another (On closer inspection I agreed with Niantics reason).
2/ “King George V Postbox”. Loads of these already on the map. Community refused due to “Generic Business”. Niantic refused appeal.
You do get 2 appeals every 20 days, so you’d have to wait until you regain one to appeal again.
Staff has never disclosed how many votes are needed to make a decision on a nomination or edit. They do have this stated in the Wayfarer FAQ in regards to this:
How many reviews does it take to make a final decision on a Wayspot’s eligibility?
This exact number cannot be disclosed at this time, however, we can say that this depends on the performance of each individual Wayfinder.
I’d have to ask, in regards to the rectory, what historical value does it have? Just being a former rectory in the 1960s isn’t enough to get it approved, even if it’s now a business park. There are many old buildings out there that have been converted into something else, but just because it was something in the past doesn’t prove that it’s worth exploring on historical grounds. I think this is why you werer encouraged to post about your nomination in Nomination Support, as there could be improvements made.
As for the UK post boxes, all I can say is that we have a very long thread here about them, and some get approved, some don’t. However, if you do have a nomination rejected by the appeals team and you feel it’s incorrect, staff has asked that we post about it so they can take another look. The appeals team doesn’t always get it right, so if there is a bad appeals rejection, do post about it here so staff can take another look.
Can you post the full nominations please.
The George V postboxes often get caught by the computer programme ( nickname Emily) and are rejected with reason Wayfarer Criteria and our team in the email.
There is no point in appealing if that happens. As long as correctly presented with the focus on the royal cipher, if it gets past Emily, U.K. reviewers will normally approve. There is advice in
For the rectory. If it is still in use as a rectory then it is the home of the minister so although other activities take place it wouldn’t be allowed.
If it is a record that has been sold off they are nnow often Single Family private residential property and not allowed. This applies even if it is listed or has a blue plaque etc.
The main gripe with the rejection is the reason given as “Residential” where I have stated twice that the building is not residential and is used as offices.
I think this should be fine but you need to do a much fuller description and supporting information.
Its local significance as a building is important - so some of the information from that link you give should be woven into a description. That is the reason that it meets criteria.
Then include the link to this information in the supplementary information. so that it is straightforward for reviewers to verify.
Is there a sign that says the name of the organisation that uses it? If that could be prominent in the supplementary it would help. and possibly an extra step would be a link to their website that shows the address.
You might know all this stuff but the reviewers don’t so your task is to put it front of the reviewers so they can easily understand.
All of that should help improve the nomination.
It might help you to distinguish this rectory from the first one, provided that the article also mentions it currently as a private residence. There is a disconnect between this being the new “Old Rectory” vs the first “Old Rectory” despite the address line (which may not be obvious to your reviewers).
I usually will try a nomination a few times before using an appeal, since they are limited. (Explorers get 2 appeals, each on a 20 day counter before they can be used again.)
I agree with Cyndie.
This one took about a month I would resubmit with altered text. If it works you have your wayspot, if it doesn’t appeal. Your submission is already in a much better state to go for appeal review. You can always hold into an appeal so that you have one ready if you need it.
Honestly, simply stating its converted to office is not enough. With so many people submit home pokestop/gym, its sometime challanging to review things like this. Thats why more detailed explanation is needed.
