Wayfarer Account ban appeal

Yes the reviewers got it wrong. But a reminder reviewers don’t see cells, it should be clear it wasn’t at the pinned location.
As @Stanoffer you have made clear that the submission was an attempt to circumvent the rules, that is what is being sanctioned.
That further mistakes were made by another group of reviewers is neither here nor there regarding why you correctly have a suspension.

Hi @elijustrying,

Thank you for your perspective. However, I want to clarify one very important misunderstanding: I never stated that my submission was an intentional attempt to “circumvent the rules.” You mentioned that reviewers don’t see cells—but please keep in mind that as a regular player submitting a Wayspot, I don’t see cells either. As shown in the discussion, the location was simply corrected to the accurate spot during the review process and was subsequently approved. This is the exact procedure standardly intended for minor placement inaccuracies on real-world objects. There is a huge difference between a slight placement error by a player who cannot see any cells, and a malicious attempt to abuse the system with a fake location. My only goal was to contribute a real, existing landmark. I accept responsibility for the initial placement being off, but the fact that it was corrected and accepted proves it was a legitimate candidate. I am simply hoping for human leniency from @NianticAaron regarding the suspension, as there was never any intent to abuse the platform.

Idk that it would have been clear to me as a reviewer. Not sure what your point is about reviewers not seeing cells? It was pinned against a wall, and I may have given the benefit of the doubt that it might have been posted on that wall where it was pinned at some time after street view was taken. Not being able to see the point of interest in the supporting photo should be a red flag, though.

It is a legitimate candidate. No-one is disputing that. It is now at the correct location. Your submission being a considerable distance away is the only issue, not the legitimacy of the object.

The location of the new Wayspot pointed out by cyndiepooh has different coordinates from the location you initially admitted to. This implies that multiple submissions had been prepared for that same garage location. If it were just once, it might have been an honest mistake. However, if it happened multiple times, that is a different story. Even the roof shapes of the buildings are completely different. There is no way anyone could make the same mistake so many times. I’m sorry for being so harsh, but this is my honest opinion.

This is something that cant be proven. Anyway the suspension is because of missplacement of wayspot submission. Even if it happen because of error, its still submitter duty to pin is in correct location. You can see the pin before submission and you can check the pin in the thank you email after you submit.

Hi Stan,

I’m not submitting a lot but when I do, I go stand on the location where the spot is and then take the picture and submit, this way you can’t be submitting the wrong location

I know that my submissions don’t always are going to be a Pokéstop in game if it’s a location with a lot of stops but that’s okay
It’s always a surprise if it turns up as a Pokéstop
I don’t know where the cells are and that’s okay.

I agree with you that a ban should only be for Wayfarer for example don’t submit anything for a year and not in Pokémon Go

Because of the risk I’m always scared to submit anything although I do my absolute best to do it right.
A lot of people in our community stopped submitting anything in Wayfarer because two players from our community got banned for a few days in 2023 for submitting legit stops.

So I’m sorry for you, but why did you submit on the wrong location?

I just did a to my knowledge good submission a few day’s ago but I’m going to put it on hold
I think banning people in Pokémon Go for submitting wayspots is not fair, that’s what the review is for, just take away the wayspot and if it’s happing more stop someone for submitting wayspots

Although you where wrong, thank you for bringing this to my attention, I’m not taking the risk for submitting anything
I’ve got a Wayfarer task from Go Fest Copenhagen, but it’s not worth the reward.
Why take the risk?

Maybe someday again when it’s fair and without a risk, this is not fun

This is not good way to submit wayspot. You need to recheck pin location after this step. You are relying on gps data which may/may not be accurate. This condition could be worse inside building or between tall building.

There are no risk if you simply recheck the coordinate and reconfirm into street view/satelite. Put yourself in reviewer shoes and you will notice if your submission is in correct place or no.

I always submit a Wayspot on the location of The Wayspot

But Wayfarer is always a risk even if you do your very best

You dont have to submit from the spot. relying on whatever the pin located is what usually cause missplacement of wayspot submission. You need to recheck the submission coordinate

No it isn’t.

Always check the map to make sure the wayspot is going at the correct location. If you don’t do this, you are taking an unnecessary risk. Once you know the location is correct and that the object you are submitting is at-minimum potentially eligible, that’s all of the risks out of the way.

I haven’t had a single warning with 2000+ submissions. I’ve never tried to skirt around the edges and slip things through, even though I have plenty of rejections where the community didn’t agree with me that something was eligible. I am most definitely not an outlier with this.

Hello @KarKryptonite,

When I first submitted the location, I was walking around doing some Galarian Corsola quests, searching for a hundo, and saw the information board. I just wanted to quickly submit the Wayspot and keep moving to hatch some more eggs. As I already mentioned, it was never my intention to submit a wrong position. When I submitted it for the second time, I honestly still thought the position was fine, so I didn’t double-check it that was my mistake during submission.

This is my second strike because I received my first warning for submitting a memorial sign dedicated to the former mayor of my town. Back then, the reviewers claimed I wrote something mocking, even though I simply mentioned that the mayor had passed away (I believe it was around 2010, but I am not entirely sure). In my opinion, I did nothing wrong there, yet I still received a strike.

I completely agree with your point. The reviewing process is designed to check for incorrect information or placements, and if something is slightly off, reviewers are supposed to suggest the right position. If that isn’t the case, why does that option even exist?

It feels like I won’t get a chance to prove that at least one of my strikes, if not both, was unjustified. I completely agree with you regarding the risks involved when trying to help out on the Wayfarer site. I guess this is my sign to stop using Wayfarer altogether after my suspension is over.

Regards

Just offering my solidarity. If I had received an account suspension for using Wayfarer in good faith, I definitely would not return afterwards. I left Wayfarer late 2023 after getting a vague warning that I did something wrong - but no information what. I still don’t know for sure. At least you get the closure of knowing which submission flagged the suspension. A lot has improved in Wayfarer since then IMO and I’m testing out whether I want to return as a regular contributor. My objection is the “guilty until proven innocent” attitude of the whole platform. Some of the statements made here expose a kind of twisted logic, the fact that the position was flagged as wrong is somehow proof that it was intentional. Try to take the suspension as a positive - it’s possible to survive FOMO and actually the game needs you (for the free data you supply) more than you need it.

50m is not “Slightly Off” and you are assuming that reviewers should be looking around the map to find the mis-placed nomination.

It is extremely likely that the reviewers did not find the nomination “where you stated it was” and therefore correctly reported as an Inaccurate Location.

I don’t understand how you can get a Rejection for Location then nominate again “in the same place”.

If the nomination is easily seen in the review then it can be moved for example “Placed on the wrong side of the doors”.

How would you confirm this. “Honest Guv, I didn’t mean to mis-place it twice”.

It was placed somewhere that would appear in game where it’s correct location would not.

It was a 2nd strike.

Whatever the OP decides I hope it’s a lesson learned and wish him Good Luck.

As mentioned before, I cannot appeal the latest strike directly, but the root cause—the first strike—was entirely incorrect. If that initial mistake hadn’t been made, I would not be facing a 30-day suspension right now.

I would like to clarify the misunderstanding regarding the ‘mocking’ accusation: The submitted Wayspot is a street sign for a former local mayor (“Hans-Zens-Straße”). As seen on the sign’s subtitle, it states his term of office (Bürgermeister in Kreuzau von 1966-1999).

In my description, I simply added the factual context that he is the former and now deceased mayor of the municipality to honor his memory and explain the local significance of the street sign. Hans Zens is a real historical figure who passed away in 2010.

My description contained 100% factual information and absolutely no jokes, offensive language, or mocking. It seems the automated filter or reviewers completely misinterpreted a standard historical description as abuse.

I kindly request a manual review of this submission to lift the incorrect first strike and restore my account status.

Staff may not see this. You should make a separate post as it’s a different appeal.

I have to say that this has been during summer last year but I guess that shouldn’t matter right

What title do I give the new discussion

Is it possible to share the warning email?

It will look like this. Only then we can be sure which nonination trigger the warning

I sadly think I do not have this email anymore but I know that I got the message on my screen when starting the game right after I submitted this wayspot of the mayor. Sadly I don’t have a screenshot of that. I just checked the emails I will still check them again now. Do you think you could do something with the approximate date I submitted because I can tell you when I took the picture.
It should be around 14th of August.

I just checked all of my emails back to February 2025 and have not found any email saying i got a warning. Can it be I never even got that email.
