So I got banned for a misplacement of a wayspot.
I submitted an Information board of a local museum and its like a few meters of the Location. When submitting the Location I didn’t realize and just submitted. After it got declined I resubmitted it and still thought it was the right Location as I sometimes get the feedback that the Location might be in the wrong location even if it isn’t. After checking I admit it might be a few meters to the side and may be seen as a misplacement.
It would appear that it is actually about 25m from the real location which is pretty far for an accident and would also place it in a free cell so that it could become a pokestop. If intentional then misplacing a waypoint to influence the game board is a serious abuse.
Niantic have never confirmed the Cell Proximity Rules the fact that your “error” has moved the waypoint from a location that would not be used in game to 1 that would does add weight to it being “abuse” of the game board and not a standard error.
I hope this is your 1st suspension and only a short one.
Sadly this is my second suspension. I have been playing this game since 2016 and am kind of upset right now that I got a Suspension for this mistake and now I can’t play the global Go Fest. I can’t really understand why they would ban my whole account and not only my Wayfarer Access because its kind of a Wayfarer only problem but I guess I am the only one with that opinion.
I understand that this is a difficult time for you and that it comes as blow.
Thanks for saying this is not your first offence. As others have shown this is a significant misplacement. And it does look like it wasn’t an accident. Although it didn’t get a warning the fact you had done this submission and it was rejected was a big message that this submission was not only wrong but obviously wrong to those reviewing. You were lucky it wasn’t reported at that point. Those reviewers had given you the benefit of the doubt about that submission.
By resubmitting you were making it more likely to be caught as there may have been some who had seen it before and thought this person is not listening, I gave them a chance and I have been ignored.
I hope you can see that perspective now.
You were sanctioned previously, the reviewers gave you chance too, you have had opportunities to learn and change.
The reality is that these actions you were doing were not about wayfarer, but to create something in Pokémon Go, to give an advantage in that game. It seems reasonable for a sanction to apply to the game.
It will be a painful lesson to learn but I hope that this time you will learn and change.
Wayfarer suspensions do recognise people can change and if you remain clean for a year then these previous sanctions in wayfarer will be regarded as spent, and you will have a clean slate.
This community will be happy to offer support and advice if you need/want it.
Sadly my suspension ends right after global GoFest. Do you think you could do something about the length of my suspension so I can at least play the global GoFest for Mega Mewtu? Because I have been waiting for the GoFest all the time? I would appreciate it if you could help me.
Can’t you move the suspension or anything it’s really the only thing I would want I am fine with missing any other Event than the GoFest or not playing for 30 days is even fine for me. I basically just need the Mega Mewtwo.
The whole purpose of a step on the abuse ladder is for you to reflect on your actions and to learn from them. So I highly suggest you to take the time to do exactly that. Feel free to reach out to the people on the forum for Wayfarer questions as everyone here is always very helpful to make the most out of Wayfarer.
I do emphasise with the feeling of missing out, it’s not pleasant.
But if you have played the game for a long time you will be aware that things come back and there is a difference between need and want. Do consider if you are getting sucked in to the feeling of need which is not good.
It is best to come to terms with the sanction. These sanctions are correct - I think you are agreeing that the actions and decisions you made were wrong, and are not something that is negotiable.
Perhaps reflect and accept more that when the rules are set they are not something you can change to suit yourself. That applied to the accuracy of the submission and now also applies to the sanction.
Try to find something productive to do over the 30 days.
You are Right Almost everything will eventually come back I guess. In the end I can’t change anything about the past but I can try to do better in the Future. For now i have to accept the situation and go on. I want to thank everyone here trying to help me answer my question. I wish you all good luck for the upcoming GoFest. Who knows maybe some of you guys will get a Shundo.
Thank you for being active in this thread. I would like to share an important and highly contradictory update on my situation that happened today.
Shortly after my account was suspended for alleged location abuse, I received an official email notification stating that the exact nomination in question has now been accepted by the reviewers at that very location. This outcome completely changes the perspective of my case. Since the community and the system have now officially verified and accepted the location as legitimate and valid, it proves there was absolutely no malicious intent or attempt to create a fake location. The initial issue stems from the fact that the exact placement was in a visual grey area on the map, making it difficult for the first round of reviewers to clearly declare it as right or wrong. Given that the nomination has now been approved at virtually the same spot, it demonstrates that the location is fundamentally correct and that the suspension was triggered by an initial assessment difficulty regarding the map verification, rather than actual abuse.
As the regular support form only replies with automated messages, I kindly ask you to manually review this paradox. Now that the location has been proven valid by the system itself, I would be very grateful if you could consider lifting the suspension on my account.
Reviewers are players just like yourself and can make mistakes. Your nomination was clearly very far from the actual object. It is odd that when you got flagged for abuse that the nomination was not immediately denied. If so then this looks like a bug for Niantic to fix. Did you perhaps make a duplicate as back up incase this one had any issues? That one might have made it through review with unobservant reviewers.
The nomination is not yet live on the wayfarer map, and it’s possible for reviewers to move the location pin during review, so it might have been moved to the correct location.
It’s still in the abusive location. Looks like poor reviewing or the move didn’t get logged by enough people. Sanoffer is arguing that since reviewers approved it where it was submitted that the nomination is fine and not abusive. As if reviewers get the last word over Niantic investigators.
Just because reviewers didn’t go far enough along street view to see that this sign is actually in an already occupied cell further down the street does not mean that you did not commit abuse.
