Wayfarer at GO Fest 2026 - Discussion

I was disappointed. Found the Wayfarer tent 2 hours in to the Saturday morning park experience in Chicago and they were already out of swag. How are they not prepared?

Was not expecting Tintino to be a human ray of sunshine. Delighted meeting ambos and Niantic staff at the event.

I am sadly not at a Go Fest this year, but my experience over 3 years is that the numbers of wayfinders visiting the stand is variable.
In this post it was made clear that there can be issues
Specifically it says:

So your feedback is vital, and will be listened to.

Totally missed my opportunity to meet and greet everyone, I was on a field research, raid winning, and shiny hunting grind lol. Only popped in sometime between 11-12 friday morning for a moment.

I did think the tent was a bit out of sight being on that side path behind a large hedge, would have been neat to see it in a more open area or in a spot similar to the field museum tent on the opposite side of the zone.

Another thing I think could be a fun addition next time is a large wayspot-pin-shaped orange balloon or sculpture above the tent, that would be absolutely novel.

Unrelated to the tent but i found a distinct lack of flygon love at GO fest, I felt like the only one, with my little flygon plush in my backpack.

All park sessions were sold out. We ran out of swag in some sessions, but not all. It’s impossible to know who is going to show up at which session. The good news is that by scanning friend codes this year, have really solid data on what badge levels came during which sessions. Do Wayfinders come early or late? My gut tells me we come early, but the data will the the truth.

Calling @SerAmanda to respond to the flygon love.

@NianticTintino is MORE than a ray of sunshine! He is a National Treasure.

I came by the booth near the end of the Saturday morning session. My park day was Friday morning and didn’t find the Wayfarer both.

I and a friend were wondering why you Wayfarer wasn’t there this year, at first. He’s a Niantic community ambassador so came by again Friday afternoon for more Mega Mewtwo raids and found you then.

oh that’s a shame! you would have been eligible for the best swag!

I wish y’all had not give out tasks for wayfarer. Here is a sampling of what we are getting to review:

I’ve been doing a bunch of reviewing, and so many photos of people at the park being added to the stops in the Grant Park area.

Someone is adding “- Navy Pier” to the end of everything at Navy Pier. It makes sense for a couple things but really isn’t needed for most. Someone is having fun trying to add an exclamation point to titles, as you see a sample of above, but I’ve seen several more.

Perhaps it at least would need to be “have an edit accepted” and “have a nomination accepted” to encourage quality changes rather than spamming pure nonsense.

Here’s another quality edit which explains the cause. Without education or some way of validating quality, this challenge does encourage garbage.

I put in three nominations yesterday but have not been credited with completing the Nominate a Pokestop quest from the Go Fest research. I used the web interface, which has many benefits for me compared to the in-game nomination method, and apparently that does not actually count towards the quest. Since it’s the same account doing it, there seems no reason to require an in-game nomination.

It’s a Pokemon GO research line, therefore the tasks must be completed inside Pokemon GO.

I also concur “edits” shouldn’t be a research as it will probably bog the nomination system? Also , especially edit locations which could lead to actual locations being sent to wrong ones

Attended Sunday and it was great to see some of the team , got my tote ! Love the scanning system and prevents duplicate giveaways I assume. and It’s better than Trader Joe’s totes! ( let’s hype it on social media now)

It is brilliant to see the wayfarer task giving out from go fest. I’ve seen many people submit awesome photo edit in Tokyo.
