Good for you! If I saw something that needed an edit, I have already submitted it. Now if they could help us with getting thumbs up for the better photos …
Agree with you there! If the upvotes are supposed to be separate in each game, make it happen!
Hello Explorers,
Get ready to Upgrade the Niantic Map! We’re excited to unveil the dates for our next challenge of the year. This time for the first time ever, we’re adding a new twist: Edit Contributions! By introducing edit contributions, we’ll be unlocking a whole new way to boost our challenge participation, a quick and easy way to improve the Wayfarer map, and continuing to push the boundaries for the types of challenges we can host… plus adding a new rewards tier type?
This challenge will start on Oct 30, 2024 12:00 PM PDT and end Nov 11, 2024 12:00 PM PST
More information to come around participation, rewards eligibility, reward tiers, etc will be shared next week when the challenge starts!
Will Edit Contribution limits be reset for Title, Description, Location, and Photo Edits? Many people will have used up many of their edits before the challenge and it would be helpful to reset the limit back to 40 before the challenge. Otherwise, Wayfarers who already participate in editing the game board will be at a disadvantage to those who have never edited.
Patience…
Excellent point! I make edits when I see they need to be made, and I know a lot of folks make a lot more than I do. If Niantic is planning to give rewards based on volume of edit submissions, everyone needs to begin with the same chance of earning them. Great to bring this up before plans are finalized.
That’s a very good point that I’m pretty sure they have thought about it, so you don’t need to worry about it
Nothing wrong with asking questions.
Ah, but it’s already been asked…
I fear many edits where nothing really changes and maybe even makes the POI worse/valid
Most of the edits will probably be adding a full stop or adding capital letters
Making sure this didn’t get buried for you. The original post has been edited, too.
But it hasn’t been answered.
Please make it possible to allow us adding a additional information for wayspot location edit submission
And it won’t be until closer to the start, or even when the challenge starts, like in the past. People have also asked about the Ingress badge, and we know that doesn’t get answered until the start of a challenge when rewards are announced.
So yes, just be patient people.
that sounds so dismissive though - like telling a woman to calm down.
Hello and welcome,
This has been suggested by many Wayfarers, especially since edits were added to Contribution Management in April. Giving more context for edits, especially location edits where there’s no Street View or no way to see them on satellite view, would be helpful.
Niantic should lift edit limits for the challenge - at least for title, description, and picture.
An Ingress badge should not depend on the agent also playing PokemonGO (to get 40 edits in each game).
The whole point of asking the question was to make sure that Niantic is aware of the situation in the first place since this is the first Edit Contribution Challenge they’ve ever done. If Niantic wasn’t aware of the situation, they could work on changes BEFORE the challenge starts. And THAT was the point to give them a heads up on a potential issue. It’s best to address any concern BEFORE the challenge starts than have the issue present itself AFTER it starts and people start complaining about something they didn’t realize was an issue. They neither officially acknowledged the issue after the first question was posted nor made an official announcement about it. So, yes, some of us were worried that Niantic might not be aware of the situation. With some of the Ambassadors piping in, we can infer that this is a situation they’re aware of and will be taken care of and that’s all we wanted. Sorry for ruining your day by bring up a potential problem with the challenge that many people were concerned about.
Hence why I mentioned that it had already been asked, and in this thread as well. I think Niantic has something in place to ensure fairness, and it may also be that edit contributions may have different prizes than reviews. I mentioned the Scaniverse contests as of late, where they are drawing for prizes, as a possibility.
My day isn’t ruined; I just wish more people would read previous posts to see that these things have already been brought up by the community.
