Wayfarer review times in low-activity regions are discouraging community contributions

Hello Wayfarer Team,

I would like to share feedback about the current review process for Wayspot nominations in regions with very low Wayfarer activity.

I live in an area where there are no PokéStops or Gyms in my neighborhood. The nearest ones are about 30 minutes away in the city center. Because of this, local players cannot enjoy raids, spin nearby PokéStops, or experience many of Pokémon GO’s core features unless they travel a long distance.

To help improve the game for my community, I started submitting high-quality Wayspot nominations. My goal is not only to improve my own gameplay, but to make Pokémon GO more enjoyable for everyone living in this area.

Here are the current statuses of my nominations:

• Community Playground — submitted June 23 — In Voting
• Outdoor Fitness Area — submitted June 23 — In Queue
• Decorative Fountain — submitted June 27 — In Voting
• Community Garden with Gazebo — submitted July 13 — In Queue

Some of these nominations have been waiting for over a month, and one is still in In Queue without even reaching voting.

I completely understand that reviews take time. However, the current system seems especially difficult for regions with very few reviewers. Players in these communities end up waiting much longer than players in larger cities, even when they are trying to improve the game for everyone.

Unfortunately, these long delays are discouraging. Instead of motivating players to contribute to their local communities, they reduce the desire to keep submitting new nominations. It becomes difficult to stay motivated when there are no nearby Wayspots to enjoy and the nominations intended to improve the area remain in the review process for such a long time.

Could the Wayfarer Team consider additional support for regions with very low review activity? For example, prioritizing nominations from underserved areas or introducing another system that helps communities with very few reviewers receive decisions in a more reasonable timeframe.

I truly enjoy Pokémon GO and want to continue contributing to my local community. I hope this feedback can help improve the experience for players living in underserved regions.

Thank you for your time and for everything you do for Wayfarer and Pokémon GO.

Hello and welcome @
It is hard to know the best place to post when new to the forum.
I am moving this the general discussion area so that it can have more people see it.

There are already two ways that wayfarer does what you are asking.

Individual reviewers can change their bonus location, which is worth doing if an area has a lot of submissions that are in the queue but generally not just for a handful.

When a submission has been sitting in voting for months without a result, Scopely Explore staff will often pull it for internal review. This is believed to be around four months for an upgraded submission and seven months for other submissions.

Being only 30 minutes away from a city centre suggests you have activity very close by. Each reviewer gets a wide area that reviews are taken from, say 100 x 100 km, so if you have anyone in that city reviewing, your submissions will come up for them. It’s possible that you don’t have many reviewers within 100km, which would affect the city as well as you.

Have you started reviewing submissions yourself? This will help to resolve other nominations within your country, which will then leave yours with less submissions “ahead” in the backlog of unresolved nominations.

You can also earn upgrades from reviewing, which push your nominations to a wider pool of reviewers across your whole country. That can help to speed things up.

Hello and Welcome,

Are the still “In Queue” nominations close to other nominations that are in voting?

It is normal when 2 nominations are close that 1 is held back until the other has completed to reduce the chance of duplicates both getting through.

My only suggestion is to keep nominating, at least when they do start completing you should then get a steady flow.

Good Luck

I had a nomination resolved today that I submitted June 7th, and I also had a nomination reach a decision today that I submitted July 28th. Some nominations take much longer than others, despite me living in a country with a fairly active Wayfarer and Pokemon Go community. Sometimes it’s very very frustrating. Upgrades really help if you know there are active reviewers in other parts of the country. Or if you tell us where you are (general area is fine), someone might move their bonus location and help out a little

Hi, thanks for your response
Yes, I had been reviewing some local contributions; however, recently I cannot find any of them. I tried in my neighborhood regions, tried European countries and even America, but still it doesn’t show me anything and constantly says Nice job you reviewed everything.
So I don’t how I’m supposed to review new nominations to upgrade my profile(

Have you set a bonus location in another part of the world? It sounds like you tried that? You should be getting reviews from your bonus area at least, even if there’s not much locally. Just try to do a few per day I suppose.
