This old bank is a building with a significant architectural background.
The building is designed by the well-known architect Alfred Hellerström (link to his Wikipedia page below)
The building was completed in 1895 by contractor N P Benz.
The building is classified and is included in the local prot ection program together with several other buildings is the area. (page 18 in the linked document below describe the building in the local protection program)
This building is today used as an apartment building with, in total 7 apartments on the property.
It’s easy to access and fulfills all requirements to 100%.
It’s possible that the property owner may have requested removal. Yes, it’s a historic building and meets criteria, but if the property owner asked for removal, Niantic will honor that request. So just keep that in mind if it isn’t restored.
I haven’t heard of any complaints by the tenants or owner. I live around this region* and i pass it several times a day.
There are 3 pogo trainers living around there and no one has complained.
The most likely “reason” is that:
This wayspot has been used as an “anchor” in Ingress for several years and the “other” fraction has been trying to get it “removed” for a long time. Name changes to make it look like a private home. location move etc.
At the writing moment there is an advertise on the market that one of the apartments is available for rental, link, and the renter is Blåklockan AB (company name).
That makes this additional proof that the building actually serves as an apartment block today, and is not a single-family private residential properties (SFPRP).
I don’t think anyone has to hear from a property owner about a removal request; that’s between them and Niantic. And maybe you and tge PoGo players that live in the building were respectful, but maybe the Ingress players weren’t, so the owner asked for some assistance from Niantic.
@yido No one is saying this is a single family PRP. The rental company could have even asked for removal.
Right now we just have to wait and see what staff says.
You are correct, the property owner could have contacted Niantic.
And digging in the Swedish authority for properties, the rental company is not the same as the property owner.
If property owner has been in contact, I also assume that Niantic requires proof that they actually is the property owner…
Anyone that has management over a property can request removal, so it could be the property owner or another person or business that manages the building. So the rental company, as long as they provide proof, can request removal since they do manage the rentals of apartments there.
