My appeal got rejected for using a 3rd party photo. Please consider that:
-
Nomination had been sent 1 year ago, before any warning and suspension was issued.
-
It was originally rejected for not adhering to criteria, not for a 3rd party photo.
Unfortunately I couldn’t remember every photo. I just scrolled rejected nominations and I appealed one that I needed. I know I had issues in the past, but I noticed that photo too late. I hope you understand me. I kindly ask you not to take any action against me. Thank you so much.
I don’;t understand the point of you not remembering every photo and not noticing that photo until too late.
I take every photo, both main and supporting, with my phone. This is easy. There cannot be any confusion about whether I took a photo or downloaded it from somewhere else, because I never use third-party photos. This is normal for submitting wayspots.
Hello,
We can’t say whether or not staff will give you a warning/ban. If you do receive one, you will emailed.
It seems that you may have uploaded the photo to another website after nomination, which could lead to this being rejected for 3rd party photo. If you want to be on the safe side, it’s best not to uplad any photos you take and use for Wayfarer elsewhere until a nomination or photo edit has been approved. Again, this is the safest route, but staff will look at each situation individually.
if you are comfortable with sharing your entire nomination, we can certainly take a look to see if there are anything that could be improved upon. I can’t tell what it is just from this screenshot and the title.
I know. It was a nomination I took 1 year ago, before any warning.
Again, if you do get a warning/ban, you will receive an email. You appealed this nomination, and the appeals team rejected it for having a 3rd party photo, which isn’t a warning/ban.
When exactly did you submit this appeal? Was it recently? Was it last year?
Did you take the photo yourself?
Did you later upload it to anywhere?
Appeal was 2 days ago. Had it been rejected for 3rd party photo, (because sometimes I did it IN THE PAST), I would have never appealed it. It was from last year, when I had no warnings.
And again, you would receive an email, 3 actually, if you get a warning/ban. Have you received any emails saying you have a warning or ban on your account?
Rejection for 3rd party photo is different than a warning/ban for 3rd party photo.
Emails don’t come immediately.
It looks like you need to accept the warning if you get one. You knowingly used a third-party photo. That it was over a year ago and you forgot doesn’t change that,.
Ok, so are you unable to access Wayfarer or PoGo? Are you getting a message when trying to access saying you have a warning/ban on your account?
Not if it had been rejected for other criteria
I think at this point you are getting too ahead of yourself, thinking that you WILL be getting a warning/ban, when each case is examined individually, and you may actually never receive a warning/ban for this.
It may just be best to step back from this and hope for the best.
I would also recommend that you review the abuse policy, to get a better understanding of it:
Note this part in the 3rd paragraph:
As part of that commitment, we enforce a punishment ladder against most types of abuse.
They use the term most, not all. Again, this is an indication at each situation is looked at individually, and punishment may or may not be issued, depending on the offense.
The only thing I can do is not to appeal older nominations. But I can’t step back from this if it has already been rejected
I have thousands of nominations. I check every rejected one. Mose of them have already been accepted with other nominations or appeals. And about few ones left, I discard the ones that are correctly rejected as 3rd party photo. BUT:
-
There are many nominations that have been rejected for 3rd party photo while I perfectly remember myself taking pictures
-
This one wasn’t rejected for 3rd party photo
It seems as though you are uploading the photos you’re taking to another website before the nominations are accepted. Again, to be on the safe side, you may want to wait to upload the photos until after a nomination has been accepted.
Reviewers can miss 3rd party photos, but the appeals team is most likely informed as to how to check for 3rd party photos, hence the rejection from them.
Again, you’re getting ahead of yourself when you haven’t actually received anything, and may never receive anything. I’ve repeated a good deal of this already, so I have nothing left to provide.
When I would see a suspicious photo in review, I would check with Google Lens to see if it could find the photo elsewhere. You could do the same for your photos before submitting an appeal if you know that you have ever used a third party photo to create a nomination.
Thank you for posting this. I am not sure how so many people don’t know that using a third party photo is abuse, but this helps get the word out.

Hey, i know you’re trying to help, but you keep talking about uploading their own photos to another site and those then becoming 3rd party. I don’t see the OP say that they have done this at all. What i see is them straight up admitting is that they have used 3rd party photos before and now sometimes have trouble remembering which ones they stole and which ones they took themselves.
Can we stop the discussion in this thread about our own photos falling into 3rd party territory?Since that doesn’t apply in this case, it just makes the topic confusing to read.

I think it’s important to dispel OP’s concerns.
If you haven’t received an email after five hours, I think you should take it as a caution to be more careful in the future. Furthermore, since it’s clear that you regret and reflect on this topic, I’m sure the team won’t take any harsh measures.
If you’re still worried, shouldn’t you just send an apology through Abuse Report? I also made several incorrect location edits in the past when I didn’t fully understand the guidelines, but I reported them all through Abuse Report and apologized. I received rejection emails from multiple teams, but no disciplinary emails were sent.
