I cannot speculate why the second and third ones were removed, but the octagonal fountain appears to be in the middle of a three way road junction with no safe pedestrian access.
For the first one, cars only drive on the left of the fountain, on the right are parking spaces. The road is shared pedestrian and car as it is at the border of the old town core. Here are more pictures for the first location. (Can take more pictures if necessary during daytime)
This does not have safe pedestrian access where people can stand for periods of time staring at their phones.
This one does match streetview and is safely accessible. The location is pretty accurate. The wayspot itself was in the middle of the street (in May 2025 anyway), but as the POI itself is not in the middle of the street, this would normally be corrected by a location edit. I cannot see a reason for this removal.
This doesn’t match what is at this location. There is a water trough there, but it isn’t this one and looks a lot older.
For the last one, the fountain seen in this street view from 2013 was replaced, with the one from my picture and this street view from 2024, in 2017.
The removed wayspot was the new fountain from 2017, the old one was never in the database.
Apologies, I didn’t notice the date of the streetview images (2013). I should have tried looking from further away.
It makes sense that the old water trough was removed. This one also has safe pedestrian access so there is no obvious reason for removal.
For both of these troughs (leaving aside the hexagonal one in the roadway), the only plausible explanation is by owner request.
Were either of these water trough Gyms?
The hexagonal one was a gym(super mega 
), the other two were stops. I already have nominated a replacement for the hexagonal one as that one doesn’t seem to be able to be returned.
I disagree that there is no safe pedestrian access, there is more foot traffic on that road than cars, except in the morning and evening, when people go to and come from work. People can also comfortably stand at and around the fountain for long times without being bothered by a possible passing car. Kids play in and around the fountain all summer long.
While possible I doubt the owner requested removal, as the stop “Azmoos Pelton Turbine” and other fountains on their properties are unaffected.
In reality there is safe pedestrian access. For a wayspot, there isn’t.
It is unfortunate that the space all around the hexagonal water feature is used by cars, because that means it is equivalent to a feature in the middle of a roundabout at the end of the cul-de-sac that rarely sees cars. In order to meet the requirement for safe access, such a cul-de-sac would have to be blocked off from cars completely, such as this would need at least part of the area around it to be blocked off from cars.
I also doubt owner requested removals, but it remains the most likely option. Since those weren’t gyms, abusive removal reports are unlikely.
Thanks for the appeal, @Silas42069. We have taken another look but stand by our decision to retire the Wayspots.
