When submitting a Wayspot Appeal, make sure to include as much of the following information as possible:

  • Wayspot Title:
    Market Tavern

  • Location (lat/lon):
    51.691868, -4.948519

  • City:
    Pembroke Dock

  • Country:
    UK

  • Screenshot of the Rejection Email (do not include your personal information):

  • Additional Information (if any):
This Wayspot was previously the Pembroke Dock Naval Club. The site has now been converted into a pub called Market Tavern. The main photo and description have remained related to the Naval Club, but someone has begun to edit the Wayspot to convert it into the Market Tavern pub without resubmitting for review. I believe this Wayspot needs to be removed in order to properly get reviewed, as I saw that NianticAaron stated in a recent post “If the business connected to the Wayspot does not exist, it should be reported for removal. Changing the Wayspot text and image to a different business in order to repurpose it is considered abuse.”. Please could the Wayspot be removed from the database in order that it can be properly resubmitted and approved rather than altered. Google Maps street view also shows the transition of the location in the past few years, with the Naval Club windows being boarded up in photos from 2018, and the new pub being shown in images after that date.

Screenshots above from Google Maps showing the change of use of the site in the past few years, the screenshots also show the image dates.

Screenshot above from Ingress showing that this Wayspot was previously the naval club, as shown by the photo and description (circled orange). Blue circles show where someone has begun to modify the Wayspot to convert it following a change of use. As outlined in my original message, it has been clarified by Niantic that this kind of modification is considered abuse. Please remove the location so that it can be submitted correctly.

Thanks for the appeal, @GuitarMan147. After reviewing the additional evidence provided, we’ve decided to retire the Wayspot in question.
