This wayspot was removed by Niantic - perhaps in error - when I submitted a request to remove some of the photographs attached to the wayspot.
Potted history - this wayspot and the neighbouring “St Mary’s Church Wootton” at 52.094979,-0.536142 have been problematic since before PoGo started (so 9 years or more!). The problem was that originally the picture for the “church” wayspot was the board, and the picture for the “board” wayspot was the church. I tried to fix this by updating the photographs for each wayspot, but unknown to me another player was also trying to fix the problem by submitting a move request for both wayspots with the result that the wayspots swapped locations at around the same time.
So now all of the pictures on the “church” wayspot are the church, which is good, but some of the photos on the “board” wayspot are also the church which people have voted for, leading to the wrong picture showing in PoGo.
In order to clean up the wayspot I filed a report asking for the irrelevant photos to be removed..
..unfortunately the wayspot was deleted as a result.
Well that’s a silly mistake by Niantic I thought, but when I checked the latest StreetView (August 2024) it is indeed not there.. Google Maps
You can see the board in all the earlier StreetViews, but not this one.
Well I thought that was odd because I don’t remember it being gone. I popped over today and took a photo..
..I feel the panel on the left is having a go at me personally..

Wayfarer team, please can you help fix this nearly decade-old problem by reinstating the Wayspot and removing the pictures of the church?
