Waystop Submission Declined

Hey, I uploaded a pokestop nomination for a Rest bench in a community park and it has been declined by the automated bots.

Can anyone see why this might have been declined by the automated system?

I can’t see why as in the reviews, I see rest benches all the time.

Even currently in pokemon go, I see them all the time

Welcome to the forums

Not all benches are eligible as most are simply infrastructure. This one doesn’t look like anything more than a standard bench, so the rejection seems reasonable.

Hi @brqwny1977
Welcome to the forum from me as well :hugs:
To add to @salixsorbus explanation I’ll attach you the criteria clarification for benches:

And will close your other thread since it’s a duplicate, right?

Also, what you see in Pokemon Go is not always a good guide to what should be submitted. Some things shouldn’t have been accepted, sometimes there were additional details in the submission that made it eligible even if you cannot see why.

Please have a look at these for understanding what makes a good wayspot.

No. This is terrible advice.

If something is not eligible, don’t keep resubmitting it and resubmitting it and hope it will eventually bludgeon its way through. It’s OK to retry a borderline submission, but to keep spamming a submission risks being seen as abuse.

Please don’t use AI to poison your submissions.

This is not the problem with benches. Benches are common, sometimes you find several in a row. They are often not interesting and not eligible since they are simply infrastructure.

Okay, I deleted my advice, already when I posted it I knew that it will raise some eyebrows.

Still, there’s a lot of things in fringe areas that keeps getting accepted, or not. I cannot teach people in wayfarer when they constantly, and with persistence come up with “but this is often a Wayspot". Second they will bring up “but the cell system”.

The only advice I can give a new wayfarer is, that the system has many flaws, and also the reviewers have situations.

If the bench commemorated some significant event or person it might be acceptable. If it is an unusual or artistic bench then it might be eligible. It’s possible (though difficult) to submit a bench as the anchor for a scenic viewpoint though the main picture should focus on the view and not the bench.

You might see similar benches around and wonder why you can’t get this one accepted - in the past the guidelines were looser than they are today, it’s also much harder to remove a wayspot than you’d think so ineligible wayspots tend to stick around.

I know what you are saying. I agree with the others that this one in question just appears to be a generic bench. But a Pokestop recently appeared at my local park that I would not have submitted and would not have accepted. But someone did. No fancy description needed apparently.
