Thought I could try it once since it wasn’t explicitly said and paid the price for it. Though the reason for not accepting isn’t really appropriate to the violation I made.
That rejection reason happens when reviewers rejected your nomination for wayfarer abuse, which is correct as using a third party photo is considered abuse, as the appeal reviewers stated.
It is quite clearly stated in the Photo Guidelines that you’re not allowed to use third party photos.
If this is your only violation, at worst you’ll likely get a warning email. If you’ve made multiple violations, you may get a suspension of some duration.
Also, even if you had used your own photos, the office of a loans and savings company would likely fall foul of the generic business rejection criteria, and would also not be considered a great place to socialise, exercise or explore. As the appeal reviewer suggested, you should probably take another look at the wayfarer criteria pages to help you better understand what makes a good nomination and what things might get you into trouble.

I just mean it should be phrased as “Using 3rd Party Photo” not the abovementioned as the photo doesn’t contain anything against a specific group or person. Unless I’m misunderstanding this.
I haven’t received a warning email yet. Is that a sign that it’s not yet considered a strike?
Again, this most likely was due to the use of a 3rd party image for your main photo. The main photo comes directly from the PSSLAI website for this branch. You cannot take photos from another source and use them as your own when nominating. You have to take your own photos for your nominations, not use photos that someone else has taken.
However, I don’t see how a Public Safety Savings and Loan Association Inc branch meets criteria. This appears to be a bank for public safety workers and their families, and banks are usually considered generic businesses.
Am not really concerned about whether or not the nomination would pass. It’s more about the violation at this point. I’m just concerned on what am I supposed to do now that I’ve gotten that Niantic Note. Am I penalized? Do I get a strike? You’ve said I may not receive a warning/ban. Then am I all good and be left with not gonna be curious and test things out?
Yes, if you don’t receive any emails about a warning or ban, the only thing to really worry about if making sure criteria is being followed.
Do as the appeals team advised and review the criteria. Take this as a opportunity to better acquaint yourself with what may or may not be eligible, as well as what can and cannot be included in nominations.
If you got strike, you will receive something like this.
For 1 day strike, you will have below message pop in in game EVERY TIME YOU LOGIN. You will nd to clik OK every time you login. Nothing else is affected. Treat this as last warning.
Once you got ur 2nd strike, you cant login into both pogo or wayfarer for 1 month. So please becareful moving forward. Depending on severity, niantic may not follow normal ladder and jump to higher strike
Just to correct this. Your first strike if severe enough could be a 10 year suspension or a 30 day one. The ladder for abuse doesn’t have to be followed in steps as suggested. It can increase based on the abuse even if it’s strike one.
