What is the progress for removal of Wayspots that do not meet criteria?

We’ve heard our community’s pain points in regards to removals. “Why is this Wayspot not removed if it clearly doesn’t meet eligibility criteria”. We agree, our removals process is due for an update and as mentioned in the appeals section above, it is currently being worked on. One of the main focuses in this process is to bring these into alignment to ensure better results of what’s kept on the map. Our goal is to have the removals processes updated by the end of the year, start our staff training in early 2024, and hope that you all will start to notice the difference in removals before the end of our first AMA next year.

This is one of the responses from the November 2023 AMA. While I do feel that some progress has been made, I still don’t feel that sufficient action has been taken.
I understand this is a difficult issue due to differences in countries, regions, and cultures, but what is the progress on removing Wayspots that do not meet the eligibility criteria?
