Removed stops

Why everyone can to remove stops and jyms? I think must to have rules- the player have 20-30 accepted nominations, for example. Why have no limit for removed stops? One person can to delete everything in the big town!?!?! Yes , we have this problem in our town.

Welcome to the forums

No-one can remove wayspots.

Everyone can send a request to Niantic to have a wayspot removed and provide evidence. Niantic staff review the evidence and will remove a wayspot if it meets removal criteria.

You may have a problem with lots of wayspots being strictly ineligible, mislocated, fake or otherwise abusive and the gameboard is being correctly cleansed.

Although the players cannot remove the Wayspots, they can submit false reports. We know this happens. I think most often to manipulate where gyms are on the gameboard. There was a recent example here:

But other times, it is just a legitimate removal of things that should never have been accepted or are no longer there.

If you have a specific stop/gym you think was removed in error, you can make an appeal in this category. Present evidence that it still exists and meets criteria.

If you see a pattern of abusive removals, I would recommend using the “Reporting Abuse” form linked at the top of the forum.

Hey @ofelia1313 ,

Welcome to the Wayfarer Community Forum.

Players cannot remove Wayspots. They can only report Wayspots that they deem ineligible. Those reports are reviewed by Niantic in accordance with our policies.

If you believe any Wayspots have been erroneously removed, I encourage you to appeal the removal in Wayspopt Appeals section.

Ok, but every accepted stop or jym has gone through Niantic and through a vote by players. Why is a review needed again?

Sometimes because a wayspot was incorrectly accepted by the community because they were not adhering to criteria. Sometimes because a review circle was used to abuse the system.

For example, if players choose to accept a wayspot on a primary school, this does not mean it should stay for ever. Once someone else notices it and reports it, it should and will get removed.

Hello,
Circumstances can change.
Perhaps the object has been moved, the business sold and a new one begun, The building converted to another use.
The world is not static. A wayspot agreed does not guarantee its existence forever.

Hence people can report a wayspot with evidence for the Wayfarer Team to review and reach a decision.

IMO We can split Wayfarers in to 3 groups…

A: More, More, More. Don’t care about Criteria. Thinks everyone would prefer the game if only there was more waypoints.

B: Prefer a better spread of waypoints, exploring is part of the game. An accurate map helps with this situation so happy to report fake / mis-placed / out of date waypoints.

C: Chill, happy to report incorrect waypoints but if the report is not acted on happy to walk away. They have done there bit.

I am definitely a B that would like to be a C

I don’t want a couch stop, Pokemon Go is what gets me out. I love the fact that I am able to walk locally and play the game but have the option of small journeys to more populated areas (town park) for raids etc. I am aware that not everyone has that privilege but “fake / mis-placed / out of date waypoints” is not the answer.

I understand everything but I am sure that in our town is different. There is one player, who dont know what he/she doing. Every day disappeared too many stops, its impossible to appeal everyone. If someone ask you to review again 50 ,100 or more stops for a month - is this normal? is this person play the game ? I look my hard work for years to disappeared for a month. Our town looks like in 2016 when I start to play this game

If major abuse has been confirmed in your town, then yes, it is very common for Niantic to look back through existing Wayspots and remove ones that should not have been accepted.

If this was 1 person that got all these removed then they must have reported them and someone from Niantic has taken a look and agreed that they should not have been there in the 1st place.

It’s not a case that I can contact Niantic and state “I don’t like that one, that one or that one” and they remove them.

With what you are saying it sounds like “you placed loads of waypoints that did not meet criteria or where fake and got them accepted” and now they have been removed you are upset.

At the moment we can only speculate, could you post images and location of some of the removed waypoints. We can advise whether they where correctly removed.

You are very welcome on this forum to use the language you are most comfortable with.

The best step is to start with a few of the removed stops and make an appeal Wayspot Appeals

You will need photos that are geotagged to demonstrate that the objects still exist there.
So doing it in sections will make it easier.
The wayfarer team will then review.
If the evidence demonstrates that they should be restored then they will do so.

Because the circumstances may have changed.

I’ve reported eight stops for removal - three were decorations inside businesses that are no longer present, two were on the grounds of a church building that was sold and converted into a school, another was a medical building that had been converted into a school, one was for a former business (their building is now a different business, and also it was mis-pinned in the median of a nearby highway), and one was a church building that had become a different church.

Seven of those were correct and valid when approved, but (as far as I know) were at least several months, if not years, out of date before I reported them. The highway one should never have been approved.

The way that I am reading this is…

Players have reported numerous wayspots as Invalid. These reports have then been checked by Niantic staff who have agreed.

In this you are blaming people for correctly reporting invalid waypoints. As part of Wayfarer we are asked to report waypoints that should not be on the map whether that is due to changing circumstances or abuse of the system.

The people making the reports have done nothing wrong.

I will accept that mistakes can happen but not “all the time” as you suggest. Posts on this forum will confirm that it is more likely that staff have refused to remove something when the people reporting believe that it should be so the ones moved from your location will be, at least the majority correctly removed.
