PSA: Removal Criteria

There have been statements made on the forum that removal criteria is not identical to acceptance criteria, but I have not been able to point people to exactly where this is stated. We have long wondered exactly what does qualify as “removal criteria,” and that question came up again today. I wanted to highlight this comment from staff, since the question comes up so often.

I invited NianticAaron to elaborate on what those guidelines are, but he did not choose to do so, and the topic was closed.

Hi there.

It’s worth noting that in the past, we had to use the AMA platform for removal criteria clarification (why we were forced to use that platform is beyond me). At the time, the response we were given for removal criteria included:

  • Located on single family private residential property
  • Located on grounds of k-12
  • Located in a place that has unsafe access
  • Permanently removed
  • Created through abuse

It appears staff wants to keep it hidden, now, so they can erroneously remove trail markers while retaining flexibility on keeping actual abuse in the system. In this case, it also appears they are now explicitly ok with allowing Wayspots located on single family private residential property to remain.

All engagement is good engagement. We spend more time discussing than staff cares to show respect for with clarity.
