Including the steps isn’t a bad call and something I think you’ll definitely want to do in your Supporting photo.
I took a screenshot of your submission and did some light editing - mostly just cropped but then did a tilt to align the horizon.
I really like using a 1:1 aspect ratio but I try and be cognizant of the surrounding area and will change to 3:4 or 5:16 depending on what else I want included or switch between portrait and landscape. (I think for what you were trying, the portrait ratio was best at including the trail steps and not too much of the horizon). This is of course absolutely unnecessary but it can slightly improve your chances (especially if you’re struggling with ML), make it look more photogenic for human reviewers, and provide a better image in your games.
I provided a few screenshots of piers I’ve done. My support usually mentions that the pier itself (I sometimes also refer to as an “observation platform”) “encourages and facilitates outdoor exploration by providing a scenic vantage point of…” and would certainly highlight that it’s along a trail in a park. Lucky for you, the pier is on Google Satellite and on the Street View - that’s worth mentioning, too, just to make sure reviewers know. “Visible on Satellite and Street View shows the maintained walkway down to the pier to support pedestrian use.” Or something like that.
