Would a title edit be considered repurposing? Local church that just changed name, nothing else

Schools… You mean the thing ML doesn’t care about?

Churches and playgrounds, 100% not sure there’s anything more agreeable than that in the uk

No one at all will follow an unwritten policy. Myself included.

It’s documented in the guidelines:

i don’t even know where to begin with that response tbh.

I think there’s probably a mismatch between an explanation that works for wayfarer staff, and one that works for the average player doing submissions (who we have to assume never visits this forum)

The average player would say a church being taken over by a different church and changing the name is still a church, ans therefore a new title would not be unrelated to the waypoint (because it relates to a/the church at this location)

Probably aiming explanations at the average player would be quite helpful since many of us would share these clarifications with players who are less knowledgeable. So more detail and more understanding of a lay perspective might be helpful here!

I agree with this. I do see Aaron’s point about churches with schools. As an experienced Wayfinder, I do look at those through a different lens than just a “church.” And I will be careful about renaming churches that fall into that tiny situation. But I find it really difficult to agree with this idea that renaming a building that goes from operating as Church X to operating as Church Y as some kind of violation of Wayfarer principles.

Tell you what. When ingress is updated to include supporting text for removal requests and I can say “NianticAaron said i have to report this for removal and then nominate the new church” and I get a 100% removal rate on such requests then i’ll take this policy seriously. Until then i’ll be submitting title and photo updates for churches which have changed.

Note: This is not advisable at all. This is considered abuse under the current policies and may lead to sanction on your Wayfarer and game accounts.

which policy though? if it’s not public then how can you justify wielding it?

rejecting removal requests because “church is still there” is not advisable either but here we are.

I’m just confused as to why it’s different with murals, @NianticAaron.

Yes. We have to understand that the majority of people would just go on common sense that a church is a church and would go right for the edit option and never consider they did anything wrong

Would you approve a church that is known for preaching hate?

Would you approve of a Church that promotes subjugation of others based on race?

These places call themselves “Churches” they are not very benevolent.

well niantic hasn’t followed through on their promise to provide policy and consistent action around other wayspots which promote hate after removing a bunch of them 3(?) years ago so i don’t think this type of lens should be applied by the community towards anything else.

Absolutely true :100: :clap::clap:

They have removed Wayspots connected to hate groups

but not consistently or without additional effort on the part of the person requesting.

I do not agree to this assessment in my experience.

You have a point, but I don’t want it to cloud this conversation.
