I just got hit with a notice regarding a submission that I had made and had been accepted for a bit already. I made a pokestop of a local mosaic tile that has been there ever since I was a kid and according to Niantic my stop contains abuse, ridicule, or harassment of a specific person or group which totally not the case. Now I have gotten a first warning even though I have done nothing wrong and have just been trying to get my neighbourhood a little more lively. I just wish this warning would be removed from my account.
Hi and welcome, please see a comment from staff here that explains why you get this rejection reason even though harassment is not present:
As to appealing your suspension, have you tried using the appeal form linked in the emails you have received? We’re happy to try to advise but do note that the official route for appeals is at that link, not here. I will therefore be moving this to General Discussion .
Hello and welcome @raindishh
Can you explain a little more about this submission please?
Could you provide the original submission you made?
These tiles again. We had a lengthy discussion with it in another topic about this and the staff deemed them ineligible. Im trying to find the topic.
Hi Xenopus,
Thank you for your explanation, I did appeal through the link but was suggested by others to also post on the forums since people here might be able to help out. I have simply never encountered anything like this after submitting stops for a long while now.
I did see that there used to be a big period here in the Netherlands where people abused mosaic tiles spots: people apparently fabricated them / photoshopped them / put them in wrong locations to get more stops in the game. I do wonder if the system has therefore become more aggressive to this submissions.
Apologies for the less than optimal english in this submission text and not adding these photo earlier. I also know this description was too game centric mentioning Pokemon. This is simply a tile on the sidewalk that I walk by quite often and after having seen other similar tiles accepted I figured this one was eligible.
Your English is fine
Is there any link to an official page about the installation project that this was part of?
There have been discussions on here in the past around the validity of these. So it may not be an eligible nomination.
Have you submitted any others similar to this? Is it visible on streetview? I ask because there appears to be a gate next to it.
Apologies for all the questions in order to advice we need to understand the issues with the situation.
I have not been able to find a link to the art installation no. I do know there to be an artist living at that residence since they have a lot of handmade sculpture in their garden (this tile is outside of their property, on the sidewalk).
I have not done any submissions like this, mainly trail markers and sculptures.
What is interesting to me, and I wasnt aware of until this point, is that the street this is on has not been updated on street view since 2010 while every surrounding street has been. And this tile was not there back in 2010 (Google Maps). I totally get the need for questions!
I’m thinking that someone may have rejected this for being fake, but I can clearly see the gate of the home that it’s in front of on Street View, so your supporting photo shows it does exist. It seems as though this may be an inaccurate warning, based on what you have provided us.
I would advise against mentioning anything game related, even in the supporting info, as that could be seen as influencing reviewers. There really isn’t a need to mention Pokémon, as there’s no guarantee that the Wayspot will even be used in PoGo due to the inclusion rules.
Yeah you are completely right about not mentioning Pokemon in the submission description. I have since submitting that stop not done this anymore because of that exact reason.
I could see this being flagged for supposedly not existing if the street view is so outdated, its just weird to me that would happen after having been accepted already.
The Email that got send to you regarding your violation stated “bad quality submissions”. Might be because of the supporting info, but highly doubt it. I think it is because it is a basic mosaic tile on the ground which most were removed in The Netherlands. But these are only speculations.
Let’s wait on a answer from staff so that they could hopefully clarify some things about this violation. They most likely will send a DM.
You need to appeal in order to remove the warning but wait till you got more input. Staff also might DM you with more detail. Moving forward, you might want to refrain from submitting this kind of submission because It seems the warning come from spamming bad quality submission.
If the appeal got rejected, you need to be careful because next will be suspension.
The warning will be gone after 1 year.
You are right, you are not supposed to create objects to gain in-game benefits (not saying you did here though, just want to clarify that this might be the reason for the warning!). This was clarified by @NianticAaron here: Deeply Affected by False Accusations – Seeking Understanding - #2 by NianticAaron
So as others have been advising, if you can find any proof of it being an official art piece use that in your appeal of the warning.
EDIT: I know for some people it might be confusing that mosaic tile is one of the categories to choose from in the submission screen, but those categories are no reflection of the wayfarer criteria.
Hi @raindishh , I have sent the details via DM. Please check.
Thanks,
