20 stops to make 3rd gym?

So I have over 20 stops that were approved in this area. Only some becomes spins or gyms. Do the red exclamations even count towards a new gym.

Welcome to the forum.

I believe that you have an incomplete understanding of what you are seeing there. The in game nomination map does not show S2 cells, which are how gyms are determined, and the exclamation points are not pokestops, and don’t count towards a gym. If you tap on them they say something like “Used in other Niantic games.”

You are showing 5 pokestops on your screen and I have no idea where the S2 cell lines hit. This article may help explain about that better: https://pokemongohub.net/post/article/comprehensive-guide-s2-cells-pokemon-go/

Thanks. That’s a bummer so all that hard work doesn’t count towards making a new gym.

The Red “Cell” is the larger L14 cell.

The 4 smaller L17 cells are the occupied cells.

It is the Occupied L17 Cells that determine the amount of Gyms.

You have 4 on the right (3 stops, 1 Gym) and 2 to the left (1 stop, 1 gym).

Checking a few of these are also showing them as “Likely AI” which is a massive no so I will be taking a step back…

Making more sense. I haven’t been able to find a way to check what kind of cells I have when nominating. So the 2 17 are maxed out then.

I think you should read up on the wayfarer criteria, specifically around how things need to actually exist.

Creating fake PoIs is prohibited. I recommend you stop doing this.
