A little food pantries acceptable

Are little food pantries, like little libraries, acceptable?
the attached was rejected without any real explanation why. Thank you

Hi @BuffaloWingWear

First - I love your name!

Second - unlike LFLs, I view Little Pantries as Sensitive locations. These people need the food but could be embarrassed or scared if there is a group of people/strangers in front of the pantry.

I agree with @LetsRollGirl. There is no official guidance on these but if you think about the harm it could do to those needing to use them, it’s not worth adding them. Particularly think about the young person whose parent needs to stop to get food from a place like this. Maybe they are in the car while their mother or father goes to the pantry, or just out walking with their parent. And there’s a group of kids from their school gathered around the pantry doing a raid. How is that child going to feel having their peers watch this interaction? You just don’t want to risk that a family might not get the resources they need because of the stigma others may place on it.

Just to let you know if you don’t, the “Wayfarer criteria” rejection is normally seen when the ML (machine learning ai) model rejects a nomination. This usually happens around 24 hours after you submit it, and the email will say “our team” instead of being a community decision.

I am actually impressed that it can tell the difference between a Little Free Library and a Little Free Food Pantry.
