Hi,
I wrote here on Friday October 17 as several pokestops had disappeared overnight in Rovaniemi, Finland. Niantic had kindly responded to my plea and returned the missing pokestops but they unfortunately vanished again on the next day, Saturday October 18.
I am starting to believe that some people might be deliberately targeting certain pokestops in the neighborhood and getting them removed over and over again just to annoy the local community. For example, these three removed pokestops are right next to a fourth similar pokestop (“Keltakankaan koripallokenttä”/“Keltakangas basketball court”) which never gets deleted with the other three.
The pokestops in question are the city-owned sports hall, playground and football field:
Here is a link to the previous thread written by me on the matter, the link takes you to the post where I’ve given extra information on the pokestops being on the city-owned property and therefore should all be eligible POIs.
Is it possible for Niantic to investigate further on the matter, why are these pokestops being constantly deleted?
Pumping this up since according to local community, this is still happening. @NianticAaron Anything that could be done? You have access to logs and you can see who is asking for approved and even restored waypoints constantly being removed… This certainly should fill the marks of abusing the system.

At least one of those was one you agreed was valid after multiple persons provided photos, pictures and map from it.
I would add to the list above the POI Crazy Owl (66°29’07.1"N, 25°43’23.4"E), a well-known graffiti below an overpass in the Rantavitikka neighborhood. It disappeared from the game map on Friday evening, though I have photographic proof that the graffiti was still there the following day.
They are both in the game as they are great places to explore, exercise and to be social. I simply don’t understand the need to get them deleted as POIs.
Keltakankaan liikuntahalli (Keltakangas sports hall) is a city-owned indoor venue where people can play many different sports, such as volleyball, badminton, basketball, etc. There’s even a gym inside.
Keltakankaan jalkapallo areena (football field) is right outside of the building and part of the venue.
Hi, it’s me again. First, apologies for how I worded my thoughts in my previous post, and thank you for editing it.
Anyway, I’d like to open this discussion again as the same POIs have yet again been removed from Pokemon Go. I fail to understand why this has happened again, and would like to request them to be returned back to the game. My reasoning is the same as in the beginning of this thread. Thank you.

Hi @Fovn , after investigation, we have restored the in-game locations. Having said that, we do not have the tools to control what type of in-game location it will become. We appreciate your understanding and apologize for the inconvenience caused.
could you maybe clarify why it was possible that these wayspots were removed again? It seems to me that after they are restored they shouldn’t be able to be removed again, unless the location changed ofcourse.
