A Nomination That Was Submitted & Accepted in 2023 Has Suddenly Resubmitted Itself

Hi @LolloJuventus
I’ve moved your thread into the main thread about this issue.

You had lost these submissions when you had originally submitted them and had to probably nominate again.

I had three old nominations suddenly appear in my email this morning. The 2021 one got promptly rejected (the wayspot photo of the actual plaque was missing and swapped with the supporting photo in the email this morning). The photos got swapped on the 2023 submission. The 2025 submission is the only one that retained the wayspot photo and removed the supporting photo.

I never received emails for any of these initial submissions, but they would’ve been submitted with low cell signal (thanks Canadian telecom companies for the poor infrastructure in rural areas!) and the one from Italy was while I was on holiday and I might’ve had esim or service issues (though I don’t remember, I wasn’t super familiar with the town and submitting A LOT of wayspots as I came across eligible stuff). Usually I click “upload later” but I think the 2021 submission was from before that, and I bet those other two were times when I accidentally clicked upload now.

I specifically remember submitting the 2023 trail marker because I specifically went on a 50km bike ride to submit all the trail markers and footbridges, and any other eligible wayspot along the trail and I vividly remember that trail marker (it was the first one of the day) and being like “did I imagine that or was it real?” (I feel vindicated now lol).

I got an email this morning of a nomination that never went through to allow me the opportunity to hold, review, etc. before sending into voting from 2023. I try to avoid duplicates on my record.

It is under Niantic Review. I would like it withdrawn. Thank you.

Hi @willzedd, this is an issue many are currently experiencing, I have moved your post to the corresponding ongoing thread.

I’ve got one of these (which was previously accepted) currently in Niantic review as well. I actually remember that submission was on the fritz that day in June, so not surprised that this is the one that bubbled up.

I wonder if is a result of the upload later function. I recall several instances of having to go back and renominate things because something didn’t pull through or it snagged. I prefer a system to put everything on hold later so I can quality check my work before submitting.

Today I got a notification about a nomination that was rejected four years ago, that it was recieved as a submission and it is in niantic review. has anyone else seen this happen? why would it happen? It was one of my first nominations and I didnt know quite what I was doing, and since then I had resubmitted it with better pictures and better discription. It is just strange that I got an email about it.

I think there’s a thread about it going on. I would recommend going here and posting your example.

Hi @Dam0clese
Welcome to the forum :hugs:
You’re in the right thread with your experience. If you look up you can see two marked Niantic statements.
Is your nomination flagged as “under Niantic review”?

Yes it is in Niantic review

Thanks for confirming :hugs:
Don’t worry

I read the known issues, but in the end, my contribution ended up being a duplicate submission to the community.
Will this image be deleted by the Wayfarer team? Or do I need to make a appeal by in this topic? Or should I request deletion via the web form?
(When I saw it, there was no balloon icon :balloon:, and the email also said “community.” I don’t know the actual situation.)

Thanks for posting questions, it is useful to have them.

Please be patient and await a further update. :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Hey,

I see that you had already withdrawn your submission from the voting pool by putting it on hold when I removed these nominations from community voting. So, when you released the hold, it went into community voting and was rejected as a duplicate.

Can you please let me know why do you want the image removed?

Thank you for your fast response.

Upon recognizing the issue, I placed it on HOLD to mitigate risk. During that time, your team resolved the problem. I then reviewed the announcement as a known issue and lifted the HOLD. This resulted in a misalignment in our understanding.

The reason for photo removal is that the Supplemental Information photo was added to the Wayspot. While not a violation, it was an unnecessary photo that did not need to be added.

The photo looks good. I would let it remain.

I did not post it as a wayspot photo. Photos posted without permission go against my intentions.

If it’s necessary for “us”, please handle it as you see fit.
