There is no real alternative.
It’s very interpretative to say that it’s a sensitive area or not since it’s not clearly mentioned in the rules.
A third party can act on the 3 examples that you cited simply with bad intentions, just to win in the dark. That’s the whole point of this post.
Not sure that this makes sense.
- You cant just call Niantic, claim to be the Property Owner and they will Remove. Checks are in place.
- If the Criteria has changed or it was incorrectly Accepted in the 1st place then reporting it for removal is the correct thing to do, whether it helps the reporter or not. The waypoint at the current time should not be in the game.

As you can see, if someone is saying they are the owner/manager or reaching out on behalf, there are things that need to be provided so staff can follow-up with them. You could certainly try talking to the owner/management of the hospital to see if they are willing to ask for restoration of the Wayspots, but there’s no guarantee that they’ll be restored.
And this really is a discussion about redefining sensitive location, but as you can see, a psych hospital for most is a place that most don’t seem to believe Wayspots should be at out of concern for the nature of the work done there, as well as the safety and security of the patients.
There are many places in the world where others would love to see Wayspots at, but the guidelines and criteria have to be applied globally, not locally, and most who want changes want them locally. You may not see a location as being an issue in where you live, but in other parts of the world it could be a real issue, even a legal issue in some parts.

I don’t know if this is the path taken by the person who had these wayspots removed. In any case, I have the information that it was indeed an Ingress player who took charge of this.
His reason was to remove one portal used in Ingress, without excess. His only desire is to dominate, or even crush the cell.
However, he did not think about the Pogo players in the hospital and this is what bothers me because the game was used as part of therapeutic actions to work on socialization and walking, among other things.
I am a nurse in this hospital, but also an Ingress and Pogo player since 2016. I know the players of these games well and I will never cease to be amazed at the behavior of the opposing faction in Ingress in my area.
If the removal has taken place recently, since the split and changes in Ingress would take effect PoGo and vice versa.
