Abuse Report

Hi
I was recently made aware of an abuse area last week, I’ve filed 2 reports on it and 99% of them have been removed, aside from 1 outstanding that I believe should be removed - Ingress

Here is the report, with linked evidence that what was submitted was forged and not genuine - Node: ‪TN23 328D‬ (‪686729637‬) | OpenStreetMap

You’ve removed everything else I reported as fake, but not this? I’d be better off yelling into the void.

Additionally, the wayspot has been scanned as can be seen in Lightship clearly showing the true postbox, I know scans are not used for removal, just using it to demonstrate here as further evidence that this was clearly abuse along with the other 17 wayspots I reported from this area.

Mod Edit to remove irrelevant comments.

I never knew Salvador Dali designed postboxes :joy:

I think because Street View does show what looks like a post box in this area:

It seems more evidence is needed to remove this Wayspot, such as photos or a splat. Visual evidence will always be preferred over text evidence.

Well it’s 200 miles away from me, so that’s not happening, unless Nia want to pay for my time and travel expenses.

I’ve asked a contact if I can borrow a photo (assuming they have one) so we’ll see

I will never understand the thinking that allows a Wayspot created abusively with a third party or doctored photo to remain in game. Have had help ask me for a new photo that I couldn’t give them more than once.

Yeah me neither, but Nia have never been great at their ability to logic that actually makes sense, but if the combination of the OSM entry, wikipedia information, the scan from Lightship and a clear visible watermark from photo editor the submitter used isn’t enough proof then I dunno what else to offer.

the stuff at the top is clear, but the stuff at the bottom is fuzzy.

Sometimes this stuff gets missed by staff reviewing the report.

@belahzur Maybe submit it again and highlight the photo by uploading an image pointing out the watermark and the part that’s photoshopped. I’ve done this from time to time, by uploading the image to a 3rd party image upload service. It could be something like this:

Yeah I might do that but I’ll wait and see if this gets dealt with now I’ve raised it publicly and drawn attention to it, I did get the feeling that this was another “we don’t get it, here’s whatever’s on our copy paste clipboard at the time” like my appeals

Who knows, maybe you got someone unfamiliar with UK post boxes.

As this is an appeal of a rejected removal request, I am moving this to the appeals section, so that the Wayfarer Team can review.
Note this is a wayfarer matter and nothing to do with a games team, so this is the correct place to appeal.

I’m not sure I ever remember seeing a Type G post box (are they rare?), but definitely 70s to 80s. It’s not even obvious from the back that it is a post box, it looks like a utility box. Definitely a forgery though, good catch.
