I really don’t understand how some of the painted poles I submitted were accepted and others were not based on it being not unique enough. I had a comment to check wayfarer guidelines and when I did it actually supported why it should have been accepted. Is this more a lack of understanding in the review process?
Welcome to the forum!
It is always on the submitter to convince reviewers that their nomination should be eligible. Art is definitely a matter of opinion, so you really need to do a great job of convincing on each one. Would you like to post screenshots of a nomination that was rejected that you believe should have been accepted?
Also for painted poles, I think the expert is @TrungLatias - maybe they can advise once you share some examples ![]()
Hi yes, are you able to show some of the nomination example? We could help you workshop that
This is what I just re submitted.
The wording hasn’t changed, I just did a complete resubmit.
Main problem I see here is the main image is not good, you need to be centered and the AI can detect what will be in there. This is one of my pole submission, the pole should be centered.
Hi @sirch1982
Welcome to the forum from me as well ![]()
I’ve moved your thread into Nomination Support.
Did you use AI to help you write this? It comes over as trying WAY too hard, which sometimes makes reviewers suspicious, or just makes them tune out from a great wall of text.
My other concern is whether these are present in this form in a large number of places in the area, or if this one is unique? If they are unique designs then its great ![]()
You can keep this one simple if you resubmit. If I were submitting this, I’d do something like
Title: “Think before you cross” art
Description: Multicoloured artwork on xxxx road.
Image cropped something like this
Supporting info: include the artist if known, or if its a local scheme, describe that. Unique artwork can link to explore criteria.
I would also take your supporting from a bit of a different angle, still showing the art but more of the surroundings to help identify it on street view
Here are a few of the others on the same road which have been accepted. The kids of the local school did the artwork for community and driver awareness. I used AI to write this one as I’ve done simpler ones and they were rejected for being not unique. So I added more info. Then niantic messaged me and told me that I’d have to read the criteria better and guess I got shitty. lol
So I told AI to look at the criteria and write me something to address all the issues. I’m a little over it. My daughter and I play but we only play in our local area and there isn’t many spots with spinners. So I wanted to address it so when we walk we can have a little more fun. Just trying to get a couple over the line has been a nightmare. Which is why I decided to ask here.
I’ll fix this with your suggestions. Thank you
I thought the description was ok.
And I do think it’s important that each title is different so that each spot can be easily be distinguished and there is often some individualisation in the description too - each artwork is different so I would expect that to be reflected. So perhaps a common sentence about the origin then something about this spot.
The supporting needs to summarise how it meets criteria succinctly
Which criteria and why
Individual, hand painted artwork makes this worth exploring.
Supplementary also is about helping the reviewer check the information- so any links to web pages about the project. And about confirming the location.
Always check what you write and stop to think would I read through this and understand how it meets acceptance levels. ![]()
Good luck.![]()
