This is just an opinion, not intended to be based in fact. Looking at Streetview, there is no safe pavement for pedestrians to congregate at the location in the event it becomes, for example, a gym in Pokemon Go. Whilst pedestrians are allowed to walk in the road absent of a pavement, the question of safety comes into play. However, I am happy to stand corrected.
This was my thought as well when I looked at the map, that someone would have reported it. But I only looked at iitc, not the wayfarer app, so can’t confirm that it no longer exists at all.
@NotASmurfTorb you can use the toggle on the nomination map screen in PoGo to see if the Wayspot still exists. You have to be right on site because it doesn’t work over a large area, but will show all Wayspots not being used in PoGo as red exclamation marks.
I don’t think that will be adequate enough to be honest. An example I go by, and may not apply to your area, but there is no way for me to know… if there was a raid, the grass verge is wet and muddy, and you had 20+ people congregate at the location which happens to be a gym, where would they stand? Also, what’s the speed limit on the road? If the noticeboard was placed on The Leys, where there is a pavement, I can’t provide an argument for why it could be removed.
Ok, just checked. Speed Limit on that stretch of the road is 30mph. From my perspective, I wouldn’t want a Pokestop / Gym / Waypoint on a stretch of road with no visible pavement where there is a speed limit that could put people’s safety at harm.
Thanks for the help. It’s weird that they put a thing that is supposed to be used by the community in a place that could be dangerous. But with these things you have to be up close to use what they’re for so i would assume it wouldn’t be that dangerous
Yep. I’m sure they had their reasons. Could have been down to planning permission (not sure why or how) and the cost of installing it. When it comes to Council decisions, very little usually makes much sense.
I do not know anything about the usage requirements for games other than the one that I play.
Do you believe we are intended to mentally model the standard usage patterns for all possible games whilst voting in Wayfarer?
The Wayfarer criteria have only a brief bit of slippy slidey language about eligibility where small groups can gather and play comfortably. To me, this means essentially: “Don’t nominate something between the ladies’ and gents’ loo at the end of the hall, since it would be awkward if two or three people remained there for an extended period”.
If we are meant to protect ten or twenty people from getting their feet wet there should certainly be a clearer expression of the parameters somewhere in the criteria.
If you don’t believe that this meets removal criteria, then you can make a post in Wayspot Appeals asking for restoration. If I were appealing, I would provide evidence that it is not on SFPRP (single family private residential property) and take photos that prove that safe pedestrian access, as those are the only two reasons I can think of that it could have been.
This removal could have been a property owner/authority request as well, but only Niantic could tell you if that were the case.
We have just been guessing at the answer to this question.
