Accepted Wayspot submissions not appearing in Pokemon Go

I’ve had 6 wayspot submissions accepted recently. Out of these only two have appeared in Pokemon Go, even though they were accepted around the same time except from one. It has now been two local resets (time when new wayspots tend to appear) and the third would take the time of appearance over 48 hours.

The one’s that have been accepted and haven’t appeared are two trail markers, (informational) trail map and a directional sign. Have all of them really gone to other Niantic games or is there possibly another issue? From what I know, these types of wayspots shouldn’t have issues with being in Pokemon Go.

Welcome to the forum @Courtesy173

If you have waited more than a few days after acceptance, then it is probably not going to become a Pokestop.

I know that the prompt tells you that you are submitting a Pokestop, but you are actually submitting a Wayspot. A Wayspot is only eligible to become a Pokestop if it is alone in a level 17 S2 cell. This is a good article about that:

Pokémon GO Hub – 27 Feb 19

A Comprehensive Guide to S2 Cells and Pokémon GO | Pokémon GO Hub

Pokémon GO is built on top of S2 cells. This article explains how S2 cells work, what are S2 cells and how S2 cells work in the context of Pokémon GO. S2 cells are a mathematical mechanism that helps computers translate Earth’s spherical 3D shape…

If you would like to give the location, preferably gps coordinates, then someone can verify this is the case for your Wayspot.

This is a misconception. All Wayspots approved go to the Lightship database. Then each game has rules for which Wayspots to use. A Wayspot can be used by all games, or by none of them, or somewhere in between.

I think I understand the system little bit better now, thanks. I tried checking the cells by myself but the tool suggested in the article doesn’t work. Is there any other way to check it? I rather not share coordinates.

i use iitc (a map of ingress portals) with a pogotools overlay if you want to look for that.
i am not sure what to recommend other than that. I would not have been able to set it up without the smart folks at the Wayfarer Discussion Discord - they have a permanent invite at wayfarer. tools

If you would like I can DM you and you can privately share the coordinates. Its understand able if you don’t want to.

or you could leave a vague location to get a general idea what cells look like there.

Thanks for the offer but I would prefer checking it by myself. It would be better to know how to do it so I don’t have to always ask someone else to do it for me.

Very true.
The IITC overlay is the tool most of us use.
