Newbie here but did not find a related topic so:
How can we add new sub-categories for spots?
For example in the “Outside sports” in France where I am we have a lot of places called “boulodrome” which are a boules pitch. This is not really falling in the playground as it is used by adults mostly.
We also have a lot of “Insect Hotels” which could be a sub-category in " Structures".
I think there is also missing a sub-category in “Health”: Health centre or Medical center. This is not a clinic nor just a doctor’s office but more like an health center association where you can find multiple practitioners, nurses, physiotherapist, etc. Etc.
Where can we suggest new sub-categories before submitting when we are not the one submitting?

I wouldn’t be too concerned about the categories. These are used, potentially, by Niantic to categorise the wayspots for the purposes of making the dataset usable by third parties, but have absolutely no impact in any of the games.
Although you have to pick a category when submitting a wayspot, you don’t have to when reviewing and it is never shown to any players ever again.
The list of categories is fairly extensive, but not exhaustive, and does include things that cannot be approved as wayspots since they wouldn’t meet eligibility criteria, such as most health centres. Do not use the category list as a guideline for what to submit.

I thought categorising in the correct and best category from the start could help with the reviewing of the wayspots (i.e. faster approval).
If not I will just pick the next best one then!
