Alright, I’ve been lurking here and on Reddit for quite a while, and have obviously learned a lot about this system. I have several “easy” nomination ideas in mind (churches, murals, etc.), but just haven’t been able to get myself to go do the work.
Ended up going to a place I normally only go on weekends (when the area’s much more crowded), and being a weekday at lunchtime, found the opportunity to grab some pics of one of those ideas without having to struggle to exclude people (or cars parked in the lot right there blocking the mural). Didn’t plan on doing all the work today, was going to submit today’s pics at a later date after I had written up the text, but decided to just upload while there and got the inspiration to edit the text when I got home.
Thought I’d make this post here to see if there’s anything I should change or fix before I release the hold. So, what do you think? I couldn’t find a title for the mural, does this work or should I change it to “Gobbo Mural” or something? Should I add links to the studio and/or artist webpage/Instagram to the supplemental? Anything else I missed? Thanks for your thoughts!
Description: This mural by Cameron Schmidt was painted in 2021 to celebrate the opening of Studio 4. It features his Gobbo characters, which have different plants growing from their heads, giving them unique personalities.
Supplemental: Submitted as a great place to explore, this 2021 mural is by the local artist who opened Studio 4 along with Noah K. It is located on Liberty Ave., a busy street in the Bloomfield neighborhood of Pittsburgh featuring many popular shops, restaurants, and bars. Painted on the outside wall of Studio 4, which features an art gallery on the first floor and a full-service creative and design studio on the second floor, this mural is able to be enjoyed by everyone passing by.
I like “Studio 4 Mural” in the absence of a title from the artist for the work.
I usually do include a link or two in the supporting at the end to back up any facts I give. I don’t expect people to read that far most of the time, but if somehow they were still on the fence, it could help. I don’t think you need so much in the supporting that isn’t exactly about the mural. I might stop here:

It shows on Street View and you have a great supporting photo, so should be no issue with verifying location and safe pedestrian access.
I can see that it isn’t an Ingress portal, but did you use the PoGo toggle to make sure that it isn’t a Wayspot already? Just to be sure?
Thanks for the advice! I like “Studio 4 Mural” too, but am open to other suggestions since I don’t have an official title.
Good points about the supporting, I saw it’s on street view too, so you’re probably right about including too much irrelevant information. I just wanted to say something about the accessibility and meeting criteria; I’ll edit that back a bit and add a link or 2 just in case.
I don’t play PoGo, so can’t check there, and I know it’s close to a bunch of other portals. It seems further from other portals than some others right there, so hopefully it’ll show up, but I’m okay if it doesn’t. I just found myself in the mood to finally follow through, and wanted to get my feet wet so to speak!
… [Candidate] can be clearly seen using Google Street View and building structure matches Satellite View. Pedestrian access easily confirmed via sidewalks in image and on Google.
Thanks for the advice! I like it: short, but informative and hits all the points! I’ll probably include something like this instead of the irrelevant information @cyndiepooh pointed out
I just wanted to shorten it a bit to have people see you had links at a glance. When you have a great description like yours with all the information there, you don’t need too much in the supporting. And I love the way @Gendgi phrased it.
Thank you for the suggestions! I hope you didn’t take my comment calling it irrelevant, but tagging you, to mean I thought that’s what you said, I didn’t mean to imply you said anything mean-spirited or anything. That was my own view, looking back at what I wrote after reading the comments I’d gotten.
I really appreciate all of the advice from everyone! It’s been great to hear outside perspectives!
Well, I changed the supporting info as everyone suggested and took it off hold. ML accept within 2-3 hours! (I’m unsure exactly when I removed the hold unfortunately.)
Thanks again for the advice! It’s quite different being on the submission side than the review side, even when you KNOW what a good submission looks like!
You did a great job. Very encouraging to someone who has also been on the fence and hasn’t done a submission for this reason as of yet. Very inspiring.
Thank you so much! And I’m glad you found this post useful. I definitely recommend reading through this forum for a while before attempting it, there are so many helpful and useful pieces of information to absorb. Especially the Nomination Support and Review Support sections. And don’t be afraid to post your ideas for feedback before you submit, I found it to be very helpful!
I definitely will. I have been doing more reading to research to see what is and isn’t allowed etc and knowing feedback is available is awesome too. Eventually I will be doing a submission I haven’t found anything viable at this point.
